There is a really good dental plan out there, and it is very cheap. it also has no waiting periods like most dental plans, so you can get those molars taken care of right away and not 6 months from now! Go to www.BestForLessDental.com

I have this plan for my family and its very cheap and has lots of great features. I looked for a good dental plan for months before I found this, and I couldn't be happier. Plus, you can see any dentist you choose. While I agree that dental schools can be great for someone who's on a budget or just needs a cleaning, I would personally rather go see a reputable dentist with experience.

Depending where you are, there are several possibilities.

If you live in a big city where there is a university, chances are they have a teaching hospital. If they do, they will also have a teaching dentist school. You may have to wait if its not an emergency, but they charge on a sliding scale, can bill you, and will take payments.

If in the USA, call your local Welfare office and ask for recommendations.

Check for dental schools in your state. They offer very inexpensive treatments performed by dental students under the supervision of dental professors. Sometimes you have to wait a while for an appointment.

here's the government's page to find affordable healthcare in your area. i did a search with oregon and "all counties" and found some dental places. do a search yourself and search for your county and cross your fingers.

http://ask.hrsa.gov/pc/

if you live near oregon health and science university (OHSU) (in portland, i think), you could schedule an appointment with them. it still costs money (though cheaper) and your appointment will last longer (since the students are learning at the same time, you're a guinea pig really) but you gotta do what you gotta do. Try to bargain them down.

here's the site with their FAQ:

good luck.
