why is gta4 not coming out on ps2

although the ps2 has more power and technology than sony expected its not enough power to be able to run GTA4. theres not enough hardware in the ps2. Also blu-ray discs hold more space so games can have better graphics and of course a longer game. Another thing is they want to make ppl buy next-gen systems because they could have a made a different GTA4 for da ps2.
oh and sdgoldperson as of now GTA4 iz coming out fo both the ps3 and the 360 its so stupid because rockstar is owned by sony. but saints row 2 is coming out for both as well

Because the PS2 is now LAST GEN. Heck why wasn't GTA:San Andreas on the PLAYSTATION to sound as silly as putting GTA4 on the PS2. Why not put GTA4 on the XBOX as well? The game just wouldn't be as good. It wouldn't have the quality that it is expected to have. The PS3 has been out almost a year now, you had to realize the PS2 would eventually be replaced by the PS3.

Grand Theft Auto 4 was made for the next generation consoles not the PS2. And even If GTA 4 was to come out on the PS2, it would require multiple discs because of so much game data.
I guess you're just going to have to upgrade to a PS3. It might seem like a lot of money at first, but it will be well worth it because eventually there won't even be anymore games being made for the PS2. In my opinion, God of War 2 was probably the last great PS2 game, so now it's time to upgrade.

The ps2 would never be able to handle GTA4. The hardware simply isn't there.

My guess is that they are trying to get people to buy a PS3.
