Are muslim women brain-washed?

Question

They say they have to dress modestly, but why cover head to toe? Indeed, many of them are forced to wear. Being "Muslims", can't the men control their sexual emotions when they see a woman "uncovered head to toe"?

PS: My opinion of Islam -- it is a false religion by the devil, which will ultimately fulfil the scripture (armageddon)

my parents are muslims and i still agree with you. we should dress the way we want to. in reality, women have no rights...and covering their whole body is a temptation for men because it makes them want to see the inside more. Thats why muslim countries have all these romance films (because thats how they actually want things to be) and have so many wifes at the same time...and i know a lot of men cheating on their wives.

i hate this religion and its just my opinion so no one should try to argue pointlessly...

if people say that muslims womens beauty are just for their husbands...it means that their marriages are arranged and having love marriages are not allowed. when i think about things like this, i feel awful.

They are brainwashed from childhood to believe that they are no better than a dog and should therefore hide. They aren't considered full citizens in most Islamic countries, they are instead the property.

Apparently, the men can't control themselves. Have you ever noticed how they act around American women? They act like they've never seen a woman before and go wild. Seriously.

I am a muslim convert and no I am not brainwashed. We are not forced to wear anything, in fact I know many many muslimahs that do not wear even a headscarf. Why? because they choose to. Its not all about men not controlling their desires, its about modesty. Being born and raised in America taught me something. Women do NOT have to dress like sluts to get attention. I see girls all the time dressed in nothing, showing everyone their "goods". Well I for one do not feel like letting the world know my body from top to bottom. It is for me to show to the person I choose. Why would I want every man and some women on the street ogling me?

I dont think any relegion or sect is out to tarnish the other relegion.

Muslim believes in Jesus do you know that. A man cannot control his temptation when he sees a woman and that is why females are supposed to cover themselves from head to toe.

If Islam is a devils relegion then Islam's base is coming through Christianity so what do you say of Christianity then.

No, I don't think they are brainwashed. I think they are intimidated and afraid. They don't have a choice. The men in muslim countries make the laws. Most of the laws benefit the men who make them. In some muslim countries women who are raped can be stoned to death, because they have dishonored their male relatives. There has been a case in the news lately of a 13-year-old child who became pregnant after her brother raped her. She is going to be stoned to death in a few months. The brother will be lashed. Which is worse? Another strange thing is that in Saudi Arabia, they have VIctoria's Secret stores in the malls, with scantily dressed mannequins in the windows. But, all the women shoppers are covered head to toe.

It's simply because of their religion. They believe in keeping themselves covered. It's NOT brain washing; it's tradition. If you are Jewish or Christian you should know that from the earliest days from Egypt to the promised land, Israel, all the women and young girls covered their heads regardless of what the weather was. It was due to their custom. Today's Jews and Christians should also be following this example but it has turned out that we have somehow grown out of it. Muslims have a lot of the same beliefs that we do though, however. They have decided to keep their beliefs. I am sure what religion you have, if you do have one that is, there is something that I could be asking about it too. Please do not be so oblivious of other people's traditions.

Most women living under Islam rule must watch very carefully how they conduct themselves. Oppressed is a mild word it seems. The Qur’an gives Muslim men permission to beat their wives for disobedience. It plainly says that husbands are “a degree above” wives. The Hadith says that women are intellectually inferior, and that they comprise the majority of Hell’s occupants.

Most have been brainwashed to believe this and they submit themselves accordingly.

It is their traditional dress and they don't necessarily view it as constricting. Also muslim women are not always reqired to cover up. For example Turkey is very liberal about that. Also I know of many women in Pakistan who dress very Western, I think it is a choice made on the family level and not a national dress code. Of course there is Saudi Arabia and Afganistan where women are forced to cover up but I am sure many of them don't like it.

Like it's the women's fault that the men lust. The men should control their own thoughts and the women should be free to wear whatever they want. They don't have to dress slutty but they shouldn't have be covered as if it's all their fault the men can't control their own minds.

Nope, we are not brainwashed. And it's not only about "Muslim" men but all of them. Men can be tempted very easily and it's better to be on the safe side. By the way, wearing burqa ( I think you mean burqa - the one that also covers the face ) is not an obligation in Islam. Study your homework well , by the way, you sound pretty brainwashed, you really need education.
