Open Office from http://www.openoffice.org has all that MS Office has, and can do a file/save as .doc or .xls or .ppt.
The Gimp from http://www.gimp.org.

hmmm. Identical? The only thing identical to something is itself.

Others have suggested OpenOffice, but remember that there are substantial differences. OpenOffice has its own Macro language. Microsoft Word supports Visual Basic. There are thousands of VB add-ins, applications and macros available for the Microsoft product and none of those will work in OpenOffice or NeoOffice. Likewise, macros created in Sun Microsystem's OpenOffice product won't work in Microsoft Word.

Not to mention that there are 11 different versions of Microsoft Word for the Mac, and 11 for Windows, so you need 22 different versions of Word if you want to collect them all.

No, the MacBook would not contain an entire version of MS place of work for Mac. purely a 30 day attemptpersistent version. while you're a student or a instructor, you could purchase place of work for Mac for 149.ninety 5$ plus a 25$ mail-in rebate. EDIT: purely reread the question, no; there are no longer the different MS classes that are made for Mac. Microsoft purely makes place of work.

Your best best for a free version that is similiar and can open up the same files as microsoft office, is open office at this website:

http://www.openoffice.org/

not sure about the photoshop there, because I don't know of any programs that come close to it, especially one that is free

Go and get the Openoffice suite http://www.openoffice.org/ for word processing and Powerpoint equivalents. Photoshop is NOT free but you can get Paint.NET http://www.getpaint.net/download.html which is nowhere near as powerful but very good anyway. Main advantage is that it is all free and legal.
