I'm not sure exactly what you mean by rash. What does it look like?

When I get a cold or other viral infection (ie flu), I get a 'rash' on my tongue too. It looks sort of patchy, like my tongue is shedding skin or 'fur' in spots - and if you look at the insides of lips and cheeks, same thing there. It's classic for flu, as well as colds, but not everyone notices it. Yep, it's a little tender, and made more so by acidic foods. It's no big deal.

It sounds like its rash from fever. Every body reacts differently to fever, or toxins, or both. Toddlers and babies react differently than adults.

To me it sounds like a rash from fever.

But your explanation of the situation is a little vague. How often does he get sick, when does the rash come on, when does it leave, how long does it last, that sort of thing.

I am not sure exactly as I am not a physician. When my son gets sick is tounge becomes red in certain areas. His pedatrician told me it was called a geographical tounge. Basically, just a sign of infection.

As a mother, only you know your son best. Keep getting second opinions if need be.

May your son be healthy.
