It all depends on what they like.
Not all seven year olds are the same.
When I was seven, my best friend has a cutesy pink room with flowers & dolls all around it.
Mine was sky blue with posters of from like video games and cartoons all over it.
EDIT: &yeah.
It probably IS a good idea to ask her.
You can't just guess.

The best advice I can give you about decorating a kids room is stay away from characters from tv shows/movies, etc. These trends change so fast, by next year she may just hate the stuff she loves now. Besides, if you go with something more generic, like butterflies or fairys, you can sell the bedding on ebay in a few years when she outgrows it.

When we re-did my daughters room we included her in the decisions. We picked out a bunch of choices for room colors we thought she would like and we could stand then let her pick. She choose 2 colors and how they would be put up on her walls. Again she was given two choices as to how we would paint them. Because her space is small I looked around for space saving ideas and then showed them to her to see if she would like them in her room. We also took her shopping to purchase some decorations and bedding. She loves high school musical but I feel that she's too young to get into this whole "I like troy thing so lets plaster her room in posters. Instead I told her we want to find things that will last a while so she picked out butterfly pillows, a castle rug, pick sheets, and a girly comforter. For the walls. we put in shelves for her to display her favorite things and picked out a new clock and some appropriate pictures that weren't high school musical related. So in a nut shell think about the things she likes. (i.e. colors, dolls, stuff animals, books, etc) Then plan accordingly. Provide choices which you feel are appropriate then give her the choice of which one she wants in her room. This way you can live with the choices she makes and she can feel included in what her room will look like.

I have a 7 yr. old daughter. Right now her room is pink and purple. She is really into High School Musical and Hannah Montana. I plan on getting her some posters of them. You should find out what your daughter likes and fix her room the way she likes. I honestly think MOST 7 yr old girls are into Hannah Montana and High School Musical.

Well it depends on your daughters likes. I have 3 girls they are ages 4,4, and 5 so all there rooms are different. My 5 year old love Cinderella so her room is a light purple with Cinderella boarder around the top and she has a Cinderella bed set and a rug that has Cinderella and a light night light and even a trash can that has all the princesses on it. My other daughter like snow white so her room is light yellow with snow white boarder and princess bed set and princess rug light night light and trash can
then my other daughter loves tinker bell so she has a light pink color room with tinker bell boarder and tinker bell bed set rug night light light and trash can also they all have a pop up clothes hamper in there room that is there favorite color. So I think its up to you and what she likes but you can never go wrong with painting the room her favorite color and getting thing to match that or her favorite princess or thing like cheer leading or ballet etc.

I personally would go for something that isn't expensive. They change their minds so much anyway. We did our son's room when he was 4 with Disney charcters and it's still there. Best way to decorate is the stick on's. Use a really good paint to paint walls then use the stick on's to decorate. It comes off easily and changes just as easy as her mind does. Here's a link to stick on's for walls.

Final note: With my daughter (who is now 24) we decorated her room with the primary colors first, then it was in pink, purple, all girlie girlie colors. Flowers and accessories was her thing.

We just re did my daughters room this year. She and I decided together how to decorate. She is really into fairies and of course pink, and the Disney Princesses(but we just did posters of them as I think she will lose interest in them soon.)
