Many non-Christians celebrate the holiday, we all just celebrate it differently.

There are essentially two Christmases in the U.S. - a Christian version and a secular version. I do not celebrate the Christian version. That is to say I do not go to church or set up nativity scenes or celebrate it as a birth of a Savior. I do celebrate the secular version: I am thankful for my family, I exchange presents with them, I sometimes erect a Christmas tree (although only because my husband wants it...but seriously, there's nothing particularly Christian about a Christmas tree), the family generally has a formal meal together.

The idea that Christmas has only been secularized in recent years is a total misnomer. There were centuries that many Protestant churches didn't celebrate Christmas at all (although it has always been recognised by Catholics). And there used to be a lot more mischief making associated with the celebration of Christmas. So the idea of a secular Christmas is nothing new....nor do I think people should take it as a threat to the religious version.

Yes. Christmas is not just about Jesus. Christmas is actually a Pagan celebration called Yule or the Winter Solstice that happened to get Christianized when European Pagans were forced into conversion. Jesus was actually born in the spring. It is a social thing, and it is a time to give, share, love, and be happy.

yes, I celibrate x-mas because it is a time set aside to be with you family and friends and to get off from school and work. To take a break and relax. I enjoy giving and recieving presents and decorating my house with all the "traditional" x-mas stuff because it is fun and it gives me time to spend with my family, and when the decorating is done it is nice to step back and look at your beautiful home. I am NOT a CHRISTIAN and I dont believe in Jesus. Which leaves me to ask...If you are NOT a christian then why do you LOVE jesus?? He is part of the christian religion, you you love jesus then that would half make you a christian, the only thing you are missing is wether or not you belive he died for your "sins". I just don't really understand...

We celebrate the secular christmas with family and the spiritual aspects of Yule with some family and friends. Christmas is not a christian holiday - its a perverted form of Pagan celebrations.

Many Christians don't celebrate with lots of gifts and trees, they celebrate as the day of Christs birth and devote that day to him. They don't want to worship gifts and a tree. I have felt sorry for their kids, but I understand what they are saying. I just don't feel that way as a Christian, my family has always celebrated Christmas to the fullest. Their kids get one or two gifts and that is it and they sure don't believe in Santa, he is fake and could be worshiped by kids. That isn't my way as a Christian.............x

The holiday is much more than a religious one. The day was celebrated long before Christianity was around with presents, trees, parties, etc, and the birthday of a "crucified born-of-a-virgin" savior (Mithra). We should change the spelling to Krismas to fit the actual day.

I am an atheist, and I celebrate christmas by not going to work, spending my time with family and friends.

Where's the downside to eating too much, getting (and giving) presents, and eating chocolate out of your socks while sitting around a dead tree in your living room?
Of course others celebrate xmas!!!
