Ok, so I just got my first digital camera, and the memory card is almost full. What do I do now? I want to take more pictures, but don't want to delete the ones I already have.

1) get yourself a memory card reader, about $20 to $25.
2) take the card out of your camera.
3) plug the memory card reader into the USB port of the computer.
4) put the card into the reader.
5) copy the images from the card to the reader.
6) Now you can A) burn them to a CD; B) print them out; C) save them to another hard drive; D) upload them or E) all of the above.
7) Reinsert the card backinto the camera and follow the procedure for formatting the card.
8) Card will now be clean and ready to reuse. And you'll have your images saved.

My recommendation: burn them to a CD and also copy them to an external hard drive. You can never have enough backups.

If you're really worried, just buy another memory card and file this one away. A new memory card that can hold hundreds of photos would be like $20 or only a little more than buying a roll of film and processing it to get 24 prints. Seems like a bargain!

Burn a CD at home, as others have mentioned, or your local photo shop or lab can do it for you. Just be sure to check the CD before you delete your card!

Transfer them from the camera to the computer.
