I suggest you go to the library and get a copy of a railway encyclopaedia. There are so many different kinds of trains in use in the world today that it would take a pretty big book just to list them. They are as diverse as any other form of transport.
...or look up the Trainweb web site, or a similar one serving enthusiasts worldwide.
Nearly every country in the world, even the poorest, has a railway system of some kind, so unless you are unlucky enough to be living in one of the few that don't (e.g. Afghanistan, Iceland), you could start by looking at the rail system in your own country.

In Mumbai there are two types of trains
slow trains --which stop at every station
Fast trains -- which stop in between the staions
Other category
steam, diesel, electric
Goods or freight trains and pasanger trains
Passanger trains , express trains, super fast trains

There are various ways to categorizes types of trains, it can be based on types of engines, then types of distances it covers or it can be based on types facilities being provided. We can also say various types of trains on the basis of intercity, intracity or international trains.
The most primary basis should be on the basis of engines
Electric Trains
Diesel Trains

There is many types, like an EMU (Electric Multiple Unit), mostly for communter rr, (ie Metro North) Work trains (to carry workers or to tow trains) diesel locos (ie ge genesis), steam locos, hybrids (ie ge genesis)
