They probably did not make fruit sticks. Fruit would be served on bowls or platters for guests to just pick up and eat. I doubt that midievil cooks spent much time constructing little appetizers. A large feast simply had one course after another brought to the tables.

Don't forget, that MOST people of the time did not eat their meals at large feasts with a big variety of foods. Most people ate their meals in their humble homes, munching on turnips, or a few grains and tubers. Meat was a rare treat since cattle and pigs were costly to feed. These meat animals were raised for the more wealthy. The rest of the populace had to be satisfied with the occasional rabbit, squirril, or even rat that could be caught. Just hunks of meat, either roasted whole, or cut up into chunks and put into a stew.

Yes they had grapes, but fruit was pretty expensive back then because it didn't travel well, so only the local fruits would be available.

A medievil diet consisted mostly of game and produce that was in season usually fixed in either meat pies or stews.

Rabbit stew with parsnips and potatoes. I think they definitely had grapes, but I would wonder about the toothpicks. They would probably be considered anachronistic. Also, roasted turkey legs make a great visual presentation and are symbolic of the medievil age and their lack of utensils.

Did they have grapes? YES.

Back then anyone over age 10 drank more beer, cider and wine than water.

Go to your local library, one book I can recommend is The Medieval Cookbook by Maggie Black, ISBN 0-500-015448-1. You get the recipes and some of the history behind them. If that's not enough there are several other books available.

Braveheart is regarding the medieval wars in thirteenth century Scotland and England. King Arthur is regarding the late 5th-early 6th cent. Britain. and there's a sparkling movie out now observed as The final Legion regarding the autumn of Rome and the relationship with Britain (that's no longer very precise). there are quite a few history courses on the invention and history channels that many times hide medieval situations. you purely could desire to observe.

Yes, they had grapes, but probably didn't stick them on toothpicks.

Bread is also a good bet. If you bake some whole wheat bread with real yeast, it'll be yummy.

If you don't have to cook something most fruits or veggys are fine unless you're doing a specific era/country, ie grapes are fine.

as are most meats chicken, pig, etc where all domesticated then.
