Harry Potter's embracement of witchcraft, demonic powers, potions, the Godly number 'seven', and even the fact that he might die and be resurrected, is overwhelming in our bookshops, libraries and classrooms; yet many Christians choose reading it over the Bible. J.K. Rowling’s embracement of homosexuality, tolerance, and lack of morals isn’t right.
I got this from Kristin regarding Dumbledore's gayness--
I DO NOT understand why something so political has to be an issue in a book series for children and adolescents. I would have never thought to infer Dumbledore's homosexuality from the books. Knowing or not knowing is not essential to the story. The fact that Rowling felt it necessary to reveal such a controversial thing after the fact of the books seems like an attempt on her part to stay relevant. It turns something that was wonderfully imaginative and delightful into something jaded.

Rowling's statements about promoting tolerance only confirm the arguments of those who do not like her. She has enough enemies in those who believed her to be promoting witchcraft. Her comments only seem to confirm these accusations rather than dispel them. If those who hated Harry Potter for that didn't have enough fuel for their fire, now they have something else to add to their smug parade. Who now can disagree with them? Who now can say, "no, that's not what she was trying to do at all," when she herself admits that tolerance is her political agenda.

Secondly, although a homosexual lifestyle might not fit with my belief system (to which I am entitled and will always defend), I am MORE saddened by the fact that J.K. felt the need to make it an issue when it is clearly not an issue in the books. I am MORE saddened that I now have no grounds on which to defend J.K. against accusations (by people who actually are close minded) that she is trying to promote tolerance and acceptance of things like witchcraft and now homosexuality instead of just writing great books. By her comments, she confirms a hidden agenda that I have never believed to be present in the books.

Here is an article written by a former witch and what they have to say about Rowling: "As a former witch, I can speak with authority when I say that I have examined the works of Rowling and that the Harry Potter books are training manuals for the occult. Untold millions of young people are being taught to think, speak, dress and act like witches by filling their heads with the contents of these books. Children are obsessed with the Harry Potter books that they have left television and video games to read these witchcraft manuals" http://www.lasttrumpetministries.org/tracts/tract7.html Another great resource for confirmation that this sick and twisted woman cares nothing at all how she deliberately and willingly undermines innocent children and apparently alot of ignorant adults into very demonic and ungodly thoughts and practices. I find her disgusting. What a tool she has become for Satan. http://www.cuttingedge.org/news/hpmain.html The Bible, however, makes no distinction between magic that is good and magic that is evil. In the Law given to Moses, God made his position quite clear. He said: "You must not practice magic." (Leviticus 19:26) We also read: "There should not be found in you . . . a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium."—(Deuteronomy 18:10, 11) People can deny and try to rationalize it all they want, but if they had ANY interest or concern about what things that displease our Heavenly Father, then they would and should completely shun the garbage and evil influence of such people as Rowling! Just as you see here in the many answers who find nothing at all wrong with these types of entertainment, it makes sense why Jesus made mention of who would seek out righteousness and all things Godly when he said: "Go in through the narrow gate, because BROAD AND SPACIOUS is the road leading off into DESTRUCTION and MANY are the ones going through it; whereas NARROW is the gate and CRAMPED the road leading off into life, and FEW are the ones finding it." (Mathew 7 : 13,14) I agree with you whole-heartedly!

No, Jeff - I do not not.
I do not believe that "J.K Rowling has unveiled the Antichrisht on your youth with her bible thick books" nor do I even believe there is an "Antichrisht." Aren't "Godly" numbers, "demonic powers", potions, the embracement of supernatural powers, death and resurrection all part of the bible too? Or is it just the appearance of these elements outside of the bible that makes up the basis of what you really object to?
As far as "homosexuality, and lack of morals" go - I wonder why "chrishtians" think they have a monopoly on morality and tolerance - the fact is they do not. If it is not 'Catcher In The Rye" then it is "Harry Potter" - this continual quest to "clean up" Literature according to someone else's standards is the epitome of taking something that is "wonderfully imaginative and delightful and turning it into something jaded."

Uh, ok. I learn all six Harry Potter books months in the past. I completed they all inside 2 weeks. I additionally do learn the Bible, I'm a Christian, and I see not anything improper with Harry Potter. I was into witchcraft (for close to six years). Harry Potter is FICTION, no longer demonic.

ROTFL!! apparently you have not read the books but are rather judging based solely on what other like minded people have told you.
these books promote more Christian charachteristics then ssatanic by all accounts.
1) do good & avoid evil
2) you have to choose what is right over what is easy
3) good triumphys over evil
4) evil can come in many forms and you must always be prepared
5) nothing greater then laying down your life for a friend/family member
6) love is a far greater gift then evil
who gives a rats hiney if dumbledore was gay -- there was nothing proposing that lifestyle OR negative in any manner. this man was a loving, caring, laying down his life to protect others, patient man - he's a great role model.
i recommend you actually read the books before you spout about that which you've no clue.

J.K rolling is a great author .. what is wrong with tolerance? If we Dont tolerate Peoples beliefs , lifestyles, Cultures and religion How are we ever going to move forward ? the hollocaust is a result of Intolerance, the Witch Trials that lasted for over 300 years is a result of intolerance.. The Hanging and torture of african americans is a result of Intolerance.. are you saying you wish for Intolerance instead of tolerance? What is wrong with Promoting tolerance for homosexuals? i am not homosexual but everyone should be entitled to live their lives free without having to worry about Intolerant people threatining their lives.. perhaps many Christians read the Harry potter series more than they read the bible because it fuels there sense of thinking outside of their Christian Box that they have been caged up in for most of their lives.. Belief in Magick, Spirits, fairyies, dragons etc has always mystified people.. and even if Rolling is Promoting Withcraft and paganism what is wrong with Tolerance of other Religious strutcures ? you dont see pagans and witches Flying Planes into buildings claiming their religion is the only right one.. nor do you see them Beating up homosexuals or Burning people at the stake For 300 years...... JK Rolling if anything is Promoting tolerance and peace.. because where there is tolerance there is peace.. and as for JK rolling having anything to do with the antichrist is insane... George W. Bush is more of a treat than a british author..

Look, the only reason Rowling let it be known is because the script writers for the next movie were writing in a female love interest in Dumbledore's youth and she let it be known just what her character was about so it was true to what her intentions as author were. I don't see any problem with it.

oh fer sure. Rowlings is out to corrupt the youth of the world and bring them to Satan ... just like L. Frank Baum when he wrote that evil series of books called the Wizard of Oz with wizards, witches, magic shoes and talking trees. and you could tell the Tin Man is totally gay! yikes!
ya gotta be careful what you allow the youths to read. they're so stupid they can't tell the difference between a fantasy book and a real historical book like The Bible.

Er? Somebody asked a question. She answered. Of course it is not relevant to the book; nothing she tells us now is. Everything that was relevant to the books IS in the books.
Where exactly is an "embracement" of lack of morals in those books?
Of course, if by moraIs you mean "stoning people", for example, then I guess there is a lack of that in the book.
Go read the bible then, if you're looking for THAT sort of morals.

Are you another paranoid christan running around looking for something wrong with everything? You'd be the first at a book burning, wounldn't you? Maybe you should live in the woods by yourself, that way you won't be affected by anything.

See, that's the problem with some people. They don't like what other people read and try to censor books, TV, films, etc.
Why can't a book just be a book?
Why can't a film just be entertainment?
People who don't read or who read only "approved" texts miss the whole human experience.
Bet you don't read at all unless it is something "approved" by someone else....
