I have only been on yahoo a very short time. As a Christian I am appalled at the things I see some others Christians write. We are not here to judge, or did I miss something? What the heck is wrong with some of your doctrine. When Christ told us to go into all the world it was to spread the good new, all I see is others trying to place fear of hell and God's wrath on others. If the only reason you are saved is because you are scared of hell fire you really need to rethink why you are a Christian. Where is the good new, where is the love for people, have we thrown out what love is?
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves.
Corinthians 13:4-7

Who the heck do we think we are to judge anyone?

i would have much more respect for christianity as a whole if more thought like you. i may not be religious but i am not a bad person and i don't go around judging anyone based simply on thier beliefs. i will judge by thier actions though. yours reveal you to be what other christians should aspire to be. it is nice to know there are some out there who don't feel the need to preach to us about hellfire and brimstone.
have a nice day=)

The majority of Christians here (at least whom are active) are extremist Christians (fundementalists). They giving Christianity a very bad image, not really seeing what Christianity is about. Their preacher/ministers are fundementalists too, and in many cases people don't have a choice.

The more scary side of thing thing is that the fundementalists are also going into politics and are even elected presidents. What is disturbing is how the peaceful christians doesn't do anything about it. The fundementalists are roaming freely all over the world and are a huge danger to people around them.

Judging the actions of a person is one thing... we all do it. Your question here shows that you also do it. Judging right from wrong. But condemning another based on limited knowledge of that person goes beyond just judging that person. And as you point out, many use fear to try to judge and then condemn (using the hell threat). You do make an excellent point though... if you feel you are saved just because you are scared of hell, you should rethink your position on it. But most who use the hell threat are mostly likely the one's who are afraid of hell... therefore they believe simply to keep out of it, in my opinion.

In here though, most of what you will find is self-seeking, envious and proud. Some people's ego's are big... so big that they actually think Jesus died and left them in charge (and I've honestly had a few tell me that he did die and left them in charge over others.)

It is not up to us to judge others. God will have the final say so as to who goes where... and yes, God is merciful, a lot more than us and we don't know what He will or won't forgive. I think that we should be more concerned about teaching love and showing others God's way and not always telling others what will happen if they do wrong.
If you show a child the right way to live he might do some things wrong and suffer some inevitable consequences, but eventually he will realize that the right way is easier in the end.

Telling people what the Holy Bible says` to those who are not saved is "not judging" ! It is not the Christians words that are judging , condemning sin and free will misuse , it is GOD`s Word . You tell the gospel to the unbelievers , if they do not accept it , then you are to go and leave them , and let God handle it in His way !*** The Lord is long-suffering , and those who speak in His name should be also. There do come times , however , when further witness becomes useless or even harmful , or when continued interaction with an unbeliever merely invites contamination with their own ungodliness! In such cases we must simply leave such people alone , following them with prayer and trusting God alone to deal with them . Such was the ten tribe nation of Israel, led by the tribe of Ephraim , just before God sent them into Assyrian captivity. God , through the prophet Hosea , told Judah henceforth to let them alone ... they were hopelessly given over to pagan evolutionistic idolatry . The words "joined to" in our text mean , literally , "under the spell of". The Lord Jesus Christ used similarly harse language in reference to the hypocritical Pharisees of His own day : " Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind . And if the blind lead the blind , both shall fall into the ditch" ( Matthew 15:14 ).. There are other similar warnings. Of those who come " Having a form of godliness , but denying the power thereof ", Paul says` , " from such turn away" ( II Timothy 3:5 ) , He has also warned us to " shun propfane and vain babblings [ that is the empty philosophizing of those who reject God ] : for they will increase unto more ungodliness" ( II Timothy 2:16 ) . "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness , but rather reprove them " ( Ephesians 5:11 ).... Most , if not all , such warnings seem in context to apply especially to people who once knew and understood the truth , perhaps even professing to accept it for a time , and then knowingly rejected it . When such men oppose our testimony , God says to let them alone ; He can deal with them better than we !

I totally agree - some of the extreme ideas I see on here really scare me, and are far more about the pre-Christ doctrine (ie Old Testament) than what Jesus Himself says we should do. He laid the foundations for CHRISTianity, and these foundations were: Love God, love your neighbour, look after the poor and build my church. So many people forget the second one!!

My point exactly, that's why I don't go to church anymore. Christians are egotistical, arrogant people that judge and as far from love as the earth to the moon. The church I used to go to preached about anything from the way we dressed to not watching tv, what a joke.

I agree God is the only judge. We Christians have many sins of our own that we need to be taking care of, and stop judging others.

You are obviously a person who lives her religion. Some people have a hard time applying what they know. Others don't care. Here we try to accept everyone where they are i n their evolution. Here we are also trying to get a best answers score . That alone makes some of us do despicable things. So, good for you and welcome. Some areas are better than others. You might just have to stay in a better class area.

Oh, the judging -- and misjudging -- doesn't bother me much. I've been misjudged all my life; heck, my mother did it to me all the time. I figure it's at least partly my own fault for not explaining myself clearly, and if people are determined to misunderstand then there's little that can be done about it anyway.

What bothers me is the threats. Nobody makes threats unless they expect them to work -- and we all know what kind of people will use fear to compel obedience, don't we?
