I live in TN and renewed my license last month; the bar code is on the back. The one that expired (from 2002) did not have it. Now, you do have to wonder what that bar code is for?!?!?!?

I've always noticed the barcode on the back of the license, of course I don't remember it being it that way years ago either.

Now with all the technology we have, police have computers in the cars and such, it probably makes it easier for them to identify someone by scanning the barcode for immediate information.
