Well... I almost agree with it. The opposite of faith is evidence... faith is all about belief with no evidence... the opposite would be to have evidence to support knowledge, but not necessarily certainty.

I thought faith was a kind of certainty, certainty without support, but certainty none-the-less. Perhaps the speaker means certainty based on evidence. That would make sense. That said, I am not interested in the supposed opposites of abstract concepts.

Faith is belief. If you are certain about something, then you have faith in it. Faith and certainty have nothing to with each other, really. You can have faith and certainty, or you can faith and uncertainty.

Interesting.
If that's the case I must have more faith than I thought.
It sounds good but I'm not sure if it's accurate or not. It could go different ways. It could be that you don't have certainty, but you have faith, or you could say "I am certain because I have faith." That's just one of those things that can go either way.

That's a pretty dumb quote, IMO. Certainty is in itself a form of faith.

there is no certainty just arrogance; the universe was here long before man and doesn't require the input or action of man to continue daily; you don't know why your heart and lungs are functioning and that is going on within you; you don't know what sparked the life in you and even as you were growing , you had no input into your own being.

If the more enthusiastic Christians would apply that, then they wouldn't be so frightened of their doubts and would begin to question their certainties.
(BTW, the quote comes from "The Faith Club" where this quote comes from a conversation the author had with a minister named Craig Townsend .)

Obviously.... Conceived by .. " A Non Thinker ! "
Are YOU... certain... that YOUR COMPUTER.... will DO WHAT YOU WANT IT TO..... Each and Every TIME ? NOT !
No, you have Faith that IT WILL!
A Simple Browse in the Dictionary.... will Dispel you Confusion about Faith.... Doubt .... and ... Certainty !
(Hebrews 11:1) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Thanks for Asking! RR

If you have a pure knowledge of something then it is certainty...and you don't have to put froth the effort in believing in a truth that you don't see.
I guess what this statement is saying is:
The opposite of faith is pure knowledge

Misleading. Certainy is almost a synonym for faith, and is quite a long way from being the opposite.
