In addition to sleep and lots of fluids:
1. A combined decongestant-expectorant (pseudoephedrine-guaifenesin - don't bother with phenylephrine)
2. Afrin or other inhaled decongestant
3. Inhaling steam. Pour some boiling water into a bowl, put towel over your head and around bowl, and inhale gently for a while. (Old-fashioned, but works wonders)
3. 500 mg of Vit. C with bioflavonoids 2x/day, with food (e.g. lunch and dinner
By doing all this, you will feel better and you will get better.

There is a product in the cold and flu section of the drug store called Zicam. This product lessens the severity, length & may even prevent you from coming down with a cold, if you catch the symptoms very early.

Rest, sleep and nutrition. No medications cure the common cold - they only treat the symptoms.

despite advances in medicine, no one has found a cure yet for the great common cold. its caused by a virus, most commonly by rhinovirus, therefore its self-remitting. no meds are needed. studies have found out that it usually takes 7 days before it goes away by itself. increased fluid intake will help in the decongestion though...

~Echinacia (Sp?)((It's a herb)
