The tomato sauce will have a reaction to the can and the foil. You cannot get an air tight seal with foil. Put it in another container, don't be lazy.

Leaving half a can of spaghetti (in the fridge, of course) overnight can't really do any harm, if you're going to heat up the leftovers before you eat them.
But generally speaking, any canned food (not entirely used) should be stored in another, non-metal container. First of all, the acids in the food---and all foods contains some acids---can react with the iron and/or aluminum in the can, causing off flavors and colors. In a worst-case scenario, some of the metal could actually dissolve and flake, and you'd end up eating it (the food would have to sit in the can for a long, long time for this to happen). This doesn't happen before the can is opened because the presence of oxygen is necessary for the reactions to take place.
The second reason IS health-related...or more specifically, food-poisoning related. In canned foods, there can be very small amounts of pathogens, including botulism spores. At the time of canning, there are so few of these organisms (due to the heat of the canning process) that the product can be considered "free" of pathogens. HOWEVER, with an opened can, the pathogens may have a chance to increase in numbers if they're allowed to sit undisturbed for a while.
Storing the food in another container prevents any possible contamination from pathogens that may have been present in the can itself, not necessarily the food.

Some of the more acidic foods attack the metal seams of the can and the food will taste like tin. Pineapple juice and tomato sauce are the worst. To avoid grief just pour it into a plastic container with a tight lid.
