It sort of depends on the exact type and quantity of yeast you want, but you can find the little packets of "quick-rise" yeast in any modern grocery store. It's kept either in the same location as the other baking supplies (flour, baking powder, etc), or in the refrigerated section near the butter and margarine. In any case, it comes in little packets, sold singly or in units of 3.
There is also "rapid-rise" yeast, which is kept in the refrigerated section. In comes in a little, dark-brown jar, and it's primarily meant for bread machine baking (it disperses and rises a little more quickly than regular yeast). It's also more expensive. You can use it for traditional kneading/baking, though, if you like.
Finally, there is cake yeast. Professional bread bakers actually prefer this kind, because it's the least-processed of all the types. It's also more difficult to find, and it has a much shorter shelf life than the packets or the jars. It's more difficult to work with than the other types, as well, but in the hands of a professional the results are surprising.

You can buy it at walmart or any kind of grocery store. Finding it in the store is the tricky part. Also, most any kind of bulk food store will have it.
