I have more than 10 years technical expertise in computing and semiconductor technology. Do I need a company to sponsor my H1B visa, or can I do it by myself?

The only way you'd be able to sponsor yourself would be on an O visa. But you'd have to show more than mere technical expertise. You'd have to show you have a worldwide reputation in your field. You'd have to show things like publications, awards, patents, etc.If you think that might actually apply to you, go get yourself an immigration attorney. Otherwise, everyone else is quite correct, you can't hire yourself on an H1b.

No. The H1B Visa is Temporary Work Visa petitioned by the employer, not by the employee. If you have work experience, find the job and talk to the employer to sponsor your visa. That's the only way for H1B.

The h1B visa itself is a category where the employer assists the temporary working visa of the employee. Now if they'd let a person file a working visa for themselves under H1B category, then it wouldn't make sense. It wouldn't be called H1B then. It would fall under another category.

A H1B visa is a sponsored visa, it is also a capped visa, which means each country has a quota of these visas per year. You have to find a US job and that company has to prepare all the paperwork for you to work for them.

No. Just come on over. America is free for the taking. Contact any company in the valley. Someone somewhere will get you a H1B visa. If that fails just contact a state rep. Be sure it's demo, they will get you anything you want as long you're not a citizen. If you are, I'm afraid you screwed. They rest of us will just bend over, pay our taxes and let you and everyone else take our jobs, over run our school, use health care free, spread disease and fill our jails with thugs.
