Reading improves memory at any time. There is also a refocusing of interests by reading because the mind will process ideas as you read unlike movies where the mind allows emotions to be foremost .

yeah i fink i saw sumthin on da news bout how readin rite befoe bed IS a good idea and helps retain and recall the readings

it's suppose to. You are suppose to learn best what you learn last and sleep is when it goes into long term memory.
