yet the verses are so vaguely quoted that they can be intrerpreted in many ways depending on the person reading it(just as the book of nostradamus is today). you can't say that the quran is scientific accurate as this is clearly false or you would say the book of nostrasamus (much higher hit rate) is real as well.

its so vaguely worded that it can mean anything they grasp at anything that remotely sounds scientific but ignore the other nonscientific things

like stars are missiles to shoot at devils
the sun sets in a muddy field
the sun has a resting place at night
sperm comes from between your backbone and ribs

and in the hadiths it said something about thunder is an angel cracking a whip and looking at a saalamander with white stripes can cause miscarriages

its laughable

The Quran is a book of rules and definitions for a specific religeous belief. It is not intended to be scientific. It cannot be interpreted as scientific. Science deals in demonstratable fact. No religious text, no matter how sincere, is scientific.

AS for Nostradamus - There are absolutely no exact, specific predicitons. Virtually all his quatrains can be interpreted in any way you desire to fit the situation, or the time period. To make his ideas fit the modern world you really have to stretch the imagination and twist the words way out of line. I can predict that there will be a serious flood, Earthquake, Volcanic eruption, War, Plague, plane crash (A-380), flood, avalanch, mud slide, tidal wave, hurricane, tornado, fire, explosion. All these things will happen. I am predicting that all these things will come to pass and I am doing so in clear, specific English, leaving nothing to the imagination and no ambiguity in the specific event. Nostradamus never specificly predicted any absolute event in precise words. That makes me much more accurate than him - Oh yes, Time - All these things WILL HAPPEN within the next five years. You can remember that I predicted every one of these events and gave an exact time frame. Then you can close the book on Nostradamus and listen to me.
Nostradamus is just another reason for normally reasonable people to believe in the unbelievable. Look at the time he lived in and the generall superstitious, fearful, period of their lives ruled by religion and Inquisition. He has not really "Hit" on anything specific within a specific, stated time from. I just did.

Some websites (for example http://harunyahya.com) claim that Holy Quran is full of science. I am a Muslim but I don't necessarily agree to all of that.

1) According to
Peebles, P.J.E., Schramm, D.N., Turner, E.L. & R.G. Kron 1991, "The Case for the Relativistic Hot Big Bang Cosmology", Nature, 352, 769 - 776.

The Universe is expanding. It has since expanded from this hot dense state into the vast and much cooler cosmos we currently inhabit. The theory actually indicates that space is dynamic and more space is constantly created between particles as the density of the universe falls

The Holy Qur'an in Surah Al-Anbiya, Ch. No. 21, Verse No. 30, says.
"Do not the unbelievers see. (Arabic)… the heavens and the earth were joined together, and We clove them asunder?"

The above verses do not explain the big bang theory well. These are vague.

In the Holy Quran Sura Adh-Dhariyat (Chapter 51) Verse 47 it says

"With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of space. "

It says vast space but does not mention anything about expanding Universe. The verses are so vaguely quoted that it can interpreted any way. The Quran and the Bible never spoke about Dinosaurs, they never clearly stated that the earth is revolving around the sun. Those religious books never stated that man will be able to reach the moon one day.

2)Another miracle is in Sura Al Mulk (Chapter 67) Verse # 5 it says

"And We have adorned the lowest heaven with lamps,
and we have made such (Lamps as) missiles to drive away Satans, ... "

So the stars were created by Allah as missiles to throw at the devils? I was having an argument with one of my friend educated in Canada. He said this is a miracle but from modern science we know that meteor showers come in parralel lines. Does not this verse mean that Satans are standing in a line waiting for God to through missiles at them?
isn't that a miracle.

3) Now a days the greatest Muslim debater is Dr. Zakir Naik. You can watch his great lectures in peace Tv or visit http://irf.net thats fine but why does Dr. Zakir Naik twist the meaning of the Quran? For example,

a)‘Noor’ means light in Arabic. Why does Dr Zakir Naik say Noor means borrowed light In his televised debate against Dr.William campbell ?Munir also does not mean borrowed light either. It means 'luminous'. (2: 257)

b) Dr Zakir naik claims that’s the word 'Yasbahoon' in Quran (21:33) means rotating around its own axis.In Arabic Yasbahoon means swimming. The word here implies that the Sun and the Moon float in the sky around the Earth and not around their own axis.

You actually answered your own question. I have muslim friends and a Pakistani scholar Ahmed Ali, now deceased, wrote extensively how the Quran never contradicts modern science and anticipated Evolutionary theory (applies only to animals, humans are a special creation similar to what modern Roman Catholics teach), the Big Bang, DNA and what not, all anticipated by the Quran and "proof" that it is a divine revelation.

In reality, to get DNA or the Big Bang or Evolution out of the Quran takes a stretching and distortion of the text that well nigh takes it to the breaking point. But Xians and Jews have done this with the Bible. In the Psalms a line runs "The Lord maketh weight for the winds" so indicates the ancient Hebrews knew air to have mass (eh? rather dubious).

Your mention of Nostadamus is a pro pos in this context. Those doofuses who think his rambling astrological verses predict the future will stretch his writings to make them fit virtually any modern event from 9/11 to the US's invasion of Iraq and all that is pure BS. But then the fundies do this with the Bible esp. Daniel and Revelations and force modern events to "fit" ancient prophecies in ways (a la Hal Lindsey) so stupid and ridiculous its amazing any one can be duped by such absurdities.

But for 2000 years almost, every generation has interpreted the events of their day as fortold in Revelations. That's why the AntiChrist has had over a thousand "certain" identifications. In the old days various Popes were the likely targets, now European leaders or US presidents seem to top the list. My own mother was certain Yasser Arafat was the Antichrist until the poor sap died which kind of blew her revelation from God all to heck! The Quran like the Bible is full of science tho' a type known as PSEUDOSCIENCE.

I've seen that claim several times myself. I've also read through a list of supposed "scientific truths" in the Quran. The claim is really pure bunk. Its obviously something that is believed by the Muslim version of the Christian's fundamentalist creationists. Some people are willing to believe any ridiculous thing so long as it supposedly supports their pre-existing beliefs.

I have seen that too. And it is deeply insulting rubbish.

The claim is made by people who clearly have not a single clue about science and wish to usurp it, and are willing to make preposterous claims about nonsense verses in an ancient religious text.

What is more disturbing is that they feel the need to do this to justify that text. In other words, it shows their faith in what they are trying to believe is so frighteningly fragile that they need concocted fairy stories about the Quran predicting everything that ever happens to bolster it.

There is a word for this. That words is insanity.

It has references to many subjects including science, astronomy ,social sciences ,geography and what not but to say that we can use it's science to run our life in modern times would tantamount to say that all the world's transport problems can be sorted out by using bullock carts.Fanatics and zealots can anything and that's what is expected of them and nothing more.
