I am sneezing like crazy & have a runny nose this morning. I feel like I'm coming down with a cold, & didn't know if there was any side effects of taking OTC meds w/ Effexor. I don't have my papers anymore that came with the prescription, & my pharmacy isn't open on Saturdays. I've already looked online, but didn't understand if I could or couldn't. Can anyone help me??

I take Effexor too. OTC cold and sinus products are fine but if you would feel better asking a pharmacist, you should be able to call any pharmacy and ask the pharmacist. Generally pharmacists are very helpful. They want people to take medications properly whether they are customers or not.

Normally yes it would be fine, as long as it doesnt have any asprin in it for some reason. What I would recommend doing is to call your hospital and ask to talk to a pharmacist, that its an emergancy. Keep trying other places until you get one on the phone and ask if whatever you plan to take will effect your liver in such a way that it makes the effexor not work.

There should be another pharmacy open with a pharmacist that you can consult. I wouldn't want the responsibility of saying it is okay and not know your history or other meds you are taking. Call another pharmacist, explain the problem and consult with him. Or call the hospital and see if there is anyone there willing to help you over the phone.
