Not all illegals are from countries that don't speak English as a first language. So yes many truly understand English.

Don't be ignorant....yes...many illegal aliens speak and understand English. This may come as a surprise to you but some illegal aliens learned English as their first language!

Some do. I personally know that many Spanish speaking people pretend not to understand since it is more convenient for them.
For example, I was waiting for Fantasmic at Disneyland, sitting for hours. My feet were out next to me to save some places. A Spanish speaking lady SAT ON MY FEET. When I asked her to get off my feet, and mentioned that the places were saved, she said in broken English that she didn't speak English. I later heard her talking in perfect English to someone else! This is a common occurrence.
EDIT: Hey, "Mama oykrasavitsa" the illegals are NOT immigrants. "immigration implies long-term permanent residence (and often eventual citizenship)." This is NOT what they are doing!!!! How can they be going for citizenship if they are criminals for being here and can legally be deported!?

Some may, but then majority don't.
Many children that attend a school learn English, but they're parents do not know any language.

They seem to know it well enough so that every time we try to enforce our laws, they with their enablers sure to know how to march, rally and wave those flags and signs in Spanish, saying, Yes We Can,. The signs might be in Spanish but it shows they understand how to get their way.

I would have to say no since all languages are culture based, which is to say that unless you have experienced the culture of the language that you are speaking you can't understand the subtleties of that language.

I live in Florida and i must say even American born floridians dont know the english language...who cares anyways we got a prez who dont even no proper english!

Sure. They understand just where to go to get all the U.S. government freebies. Free housing, free foodstamps, free health care and free education. They also understand the value of the U.S. currency. That is why they won't work for 25 cents an hour.
