I have 2 new female kittens and everytime a turn on the Animal Planet they stop what they are doing and watch - well if they are awake. When I change the channel they go back to what they were doing. I have done this several times to test the theory and it works. Subliminal sounds and messages? Anyone experience the same?

its not really an experiment or something mysterious... i've had cats all my life growing up and they've all done that. they're probably just interested because they see other animals but they fit into that tiny box. its cute and obviously thy're a little confused

Subliminal messages? LOL!! if they start to leave you notes about wanting a certain brand of kitten food, I would worry!
It is normal. I have two cats, one could care less about the tv, the other is mesmerized. But not by animal planet, he prefers action movies! :)

One of my two cats watches TV with me. She loves animal planet. Her favorite show is Meerkat Manor. Everytime that show comes on she comes running to watch it. It's hillarious. She also likes hockey sometimes and older episodes of ER like with Mark Green etc. She doesn't watch the new episodes. Its so funny because its the same everytime. She NEVER watches the food network with me, only when I watch a few select shows. SO funny!

We have a dog who will sit and watch television for hours at a time. She also barks at babies, dogs, and Dr. Phil when they appear on the screen.
We have a deaf kitten who watches sports and Animal Planet. He can't hear, but the pictures on the screen intrigue him for hours at a time.
If you leave the house, keep your television on. That's what we do to keep the pets from fighting. :)

My kitten kronic watches tv a lot. I do watch a lot of animal planet, but he get's on top of the tv and tries to bat at the screen.

One of my cats loves to watch racing. One likes basketball. My lab likes football, and if Animal Planet has anything on with dogs or horses, she puts her nose right up to the screen! They're all crazy, and I love them!

I don't know about subliminal, but many dogs and cats watch TV. It just shows they are intelligent.

whenever we have the t.v. on a certain channel my kitten likes to get up on the stand and sit in front of the t.v. and watches the show

my dogs do that all the time when we watch the movie good boy or when we watch something with howling wolves. its normal.
