I believe in the man that you are today
and will support you in all your endeavors
I vow my faithfulness to you, our family and our future
Although I may hurt you, I will never intentionally cause you harm
You enhance my life and I will strive to show you every day how important you are to me
I can't promise you forever but with God on our side, I pray an eternal love.

My fiance and I are pretty traditional. We haven't discussed writing our own vows or anything. Plus, we really love the idea of saying the same promise that so many others have said. We will read over the whole ceremony before we get married, and be sure we agree with it all.

In some ways, it's like saying the prayers that have already been written by others. It just touches our heart and souls in a place that nothing else can reach. It puts into words what we're longing for from deep inside. And it's simply lovely!

We're using the traditional vows with a slight change. Instead of "love, honor, and obey" it's going to say "love, honor, and rub her back"

For us there's something comforting in using the same vows passed down by succesful couples for generations....but we both know I'm crap at obeying lol

That certain man happens to be a German guy I met because of our mutual Tolkien-geekiness, so we're doing our vows in English, German, and maybe a bit of Sindarin. ;)

As for the meaning, it will be pretty traditional - but nothing about "obeying"! *cringe*

well I am going to have a commitment marriage ceremony where we say our vows to each other but not legally married I have expressed to him that he is the only man I want to be with and as long as he doesn't piss me off I will love him until it is over I promise him to love him as long as it lasts

I want to use the traditional vows, whenever/if that day comes. :)

we used the traditional "Love, Honor, and Cherish" Of course back then, one simply did not have a choice in her ceremony!

My guy stated i might constantly be his maximum suitable pal, and that i made him sense finished. He promised to never harm me, and to constantly be there for me. I advised him that he healed me, and gave me excitement, and that i promised to be unswerving & trustworthy, and to chortle plenty daily.
