If you can get accepted into their colleges, they pay everything and pay you a salary.

For the Air Force, it would be the US Air Force Academy with a major in biology and acceptance to the HPSP at the academy. Qualified candidates are encouraged to go to medical school immediately after graduation. It would be best to attend medical school at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences so that you could keep your scholarships and pay levels.

This is not an easy path to take. Competition for both is very high.

Do NOT go to a recruiter! They will tell you all sorts of lies to get you into the military. This has been in the news a lot recently, so don't do it. Also, do NOT enlist with the expectation of getting lots of money for college. You can have a job in the military WITHOUT joining the military--it's called being a civilian. Military and civilian pay is good--but you can make a lot more in the private sector. The reason why people take military jobs is that benefits are excellent (cheap health care, life insurance, retirement funds, housing sometimes). As a military brat, I know how good they are. Talk to an independent guience counselor or career advisor on your campus about military and civil service jobs. Visit Usajobs.gov and look around at the salaries.

The federal government just passed a new law that will forgive your loans in a certain amount of time if you spend 10 or so years in military or government jobs. Some agencies also have programs where you can get a certain amount of money every year to pay down your loans. Talk to your financial aid advisor about these options.

Your best bet is to talk to a recruiter. These things change every year depending on recruit numbers, budgets, etc.! Wanting to go into the medical feild has been, a good way to go in the AF, in the past. Good luck!!
