I have a 9 month old lab who already weighs 92lbs. When will he quit growing?

No he isn't a mix.. akc registered. I'm just curious when they're supposed to be done. We also have a female lab who grew until she was about 2yrs. I just want to know the standard time they grow. And NO I'm not breeding them, my female's spayed for any of you who like to attack people's questions. Thanks everyone!

He's definitely not overweight.. when he went to the vet they said he looked like he was 3! We've had him since he was 8 weeks and we have his AKC papers, so we know he's purebred, etc. His paws are absolutely HUGE even when he was a puppy they were bigger than my female lab's..

That's a big dog! Are you sure you don't have a great dane? lol I think that by 2 years they should be finished with growing. I can't imagine 92 pounds at 9 months! My black lab is 8 years old and she's never weighed that much.

Check with your vet and make sure your puppy isn't overweight. Purebred Labs should weigh no more than 90 lbs at 3 years of age. They should be full height by about 18 - 24 months and finish filling out by 3 years. If this is a purebred English Lab (most show dog lines are this type - built shorter and stockier), I'd expect a 9 month old to weigh no more than 40 lbs. A purebred American Lab at 9 months should be slightly lighter. If its a mix with a larger dog, there's no way to guess except to have the vet check that he's not overweight for his size.

Well I have a lab and she stopped around one year of age growing, she is about 150 pounds so that seems about correct wieght and size for your lab, but always contact a vet for questions here is a good web sight for info on labs:
