Breast cancer is a common disease and your grandmother’s may or may not have been hereditary, but only a very small minority of breast cancer cases are– about 5 – 10%. For most people, getting older is the greatest risk factor, and she may well have been one of the majority for whom it is a random thing.

Breast cancer that runs in families is thought to be caused by a faulty gene, which can increase your chances of getting breast cancer. You can be tested for this when you are older if your doctor thinks it’s necessary – usually if one of your parents carries it. However, having a faulty gene does not mean you will definitely develop breast cancer.

Just remember – most cases of breast cancer aren’t hereditary. Try not to worry without cause.

Your mum is right and the changes you are experiencing are down to puberty.

Most likely what your mom thinks is right. You could see a doctor to check this out. Cancer can run in families. My mother had breast cancer and I have a sister who has had it twice. I also am in my second round of it, but we are quite a bit older than you. It is something to talk with the doctor about. You might what to make sure you get checked regularly so if anything happens it can be caught at the earliest stage possible.

Well, the "ball things" in your chests, that's called puberty. (It's not uncommon for girls to develop irregular breasts during puberty.) And about the cancer, if it's genetic, you should consult your family members and ask if there's a family history of it. If there is, it's still pretty rare for cancers to develop in children, those kind of things usually happen from 40-60 or so (From what I've seen). But this is the important part, MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE DOCTOR'S AND GET YOUR BREAST'S CHECKED FOR TUMORS. This is important because if you catch cancer in an early stage (If there is any at all), it usually can be stopped easily because it's at an early stage. I hope that I helped, and be sure to get that checked out.

Cancers can't be passed from generation to generation, unlike physical handicaps, and you're a bit young to worrying about breast cancer, at the age of 18 get yourself an exam and then every two years after that, and you can learn how to look for yourself when you have your exam at yhe age of 18.

It depends how many people have it in your family. My great grandma died of cancer and nobody in my family has got cancer.
If other people are starting to get it then you have a better chance of getting it, but in my family people have gotten cancer and my sisters and mom still havent got it so there really is no way to tell

You might..
right now you don't have it though cuz i have the same things as you.,,
the ball type bumps in my breastes.. but thats beacause their not done growing yet and some of them are fat sakes.
Don't worry to much now, but if you'd like occasionally check your breasts for any odd bumps you never felt before.
If you catch it early enough it can be removed no problem ..

Nobody knows for sure. If you have other family members that have it or have had it I would look into it. Yeah you are only 14 but it's always good to check. If you are feeling things in your breasts then I would just go check it out- it wouldn't hurt to do it! Good luck!

She's right. Just because your grandma had it doesn't mean you will surely have it. But once your breasts have finished growing (when you're about 17) you should go for annual checks just to make sure.

since you have a family history you want to make your doctor aware of it and he/she will properly screen for it as you develop.

Those little things are most likely breast tissue responding to the hormones that are beginning to course through your body.

if you drink a lot of soda or coffee fibroids can develop.

most likely its just puberty. puberty is a drag.
