Sin is what separates us from the filling of the Holy Spirit, and obedience to God is how the filling of the Spirit is maintained. Although our focus should be to be filled as Ephesians 5:18 commands, praying for the filling of the Holy Spirit is not what accomplishes the filling of the Spirit. Only our obedience to God's commands allows the Spirit freedom to work within us. Because we are sinful creatures, it is impossible to be filled with the Spirit all of the time. We should immediately deal with sin in our lives, and renew our commitment to being Spirit-filled and Spirit-led.

1 Jn. 4: 4
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Rom. 12: 21
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Matt. 3:8
8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
John 16: 33
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
We need to know who to turn to for strenghth and help....it is clear...that Jesus Christ is our mediator between us and Heavenly Father....The steps of repentance are: First to have Godly sorrow for our sins, Second to have Faith in Jesus Christ power to be able to satisfy the demands of justice. Third, to do all you can in your power to right the wrong you have done. Forth to do all you can with all your heart, mind, and might (spirit) to not sin again and this is done by keeping his commandments....doing what he asks you to do and do it with all the energy of your heart. Then can the enabling power of Jesus Christ change your nature and you will have no desire for sin and by the Holy Ghost you can receive strength and comfort and power beyond your own to overcome.....sometimes there are thorns in our side that we have to constantly struggle with but if we struggle with the Lord our broken hearts and contrite spirit is enough for Christ’s mercy to satisfy the demands of justice.

Those who are renegades and rant against the church would not have any idea about the Holy Spirit as they are driven by an evil spirit,to read the Bible apart from the church and then rubbish organized religion is not of God, it is simply egotistical and rebellion.

Read Romans 7. Paul struggled a lot with sin in the flesh. Then in Romans 8 he confirmed that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Later in Romans 8 he said that the Holy Spirit is our strength, and that nothing (not even sin) can separate us from Christ Jesus.
