to sin: because Satan tempted them or somehow caused them to sin?

I'm not asking about any type of original sin, I'm saying if you steal a dollar from someone today, is it Satan that made you do it?

Satan is the handy scapegoat for those who don't want to take responsibility for their own actions.

As a Christian, I know Satan tempts us, whether we are religious or not. But it's up to us to resist that temptation. If I fail, I know it's because I gave in to the temptation. But Satan can't force us to sin. With God helping us, we have the power to resist it.

James 4:7 -- Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1 Corinthians 10:13 -- No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

i am catholic, but it is kind of similar to christian. i do and i dont think it is right to blame it on the devil. i believe the devil has returned to earth and that, like it said in the bible, he will be a very powerful and liked person (until of course he starts the "war of the four nations"). i also think we humans do things that we cannot always come up with a reason for doing. the devil could possible be tempting you. but i also think iggnorant people blame it on the devil when they feel guilty with their actions and cannot find any one else to blame. this subject is very controversial. even i am still deciding what i feel about what i wrote! lol

No, we are quite capable of sin all by our selves. I am sure Satan is busy with the bigger events in life.

Yes, teh devil temps us to sin, but the blame is not on the devil when we give in to temptation and sin. jesus was tempted in the desert, but did not give in to the devil and did not sin.

The blame is entirely ours when we sin. The devil may be whispering in our ear, but we have the free will to steal the dollar or to resist the temptation. Our choice. Our responsibility

Most people sin because they wanted to sin, it's in the heart, sure the temptation is there!

Sounds like the Christian mantra to me. Christians have completely discounted accountability for their own actions.
