would you be smart enough to not end up in jail and live civilly?

is it possible to live your life logically with common sense and good morals?

or do you need to be saved and believe in something in order to live your life?

I would live exactly the same way that I do now.
I don't understand why people seem to feel as though Christians would all be out murdering people, stealing, lying, and cheating were it not for the 10 Commandments.

We have good morals. We try to do the right thing. We treat other people as we want to be treated. We are good people. It is hard for me to understand why you think we would be the scum of the Earth were it not for the 10 Commandments.
I would do my best to follow the principles even if they had never been written.

YES, it is possible to live a good life without Jesus. Someone can not believe at all and live, as you say, with common sense and good morals.

Being saved makes it all the better, for me.

No, one does not need to believe in order "to live his/her life."

I CHOOSE to believe.

The bulk of the Ten Commandments is pretty similar through all human societies. They're what anyone living in a group (and virtually all humans do and always have done) knows has to operate in order for the society to function. They are about an attitude of respect to others. So the tablets of stone just set it all down, adding in the bit about having no other god and not making a graven image, but it wasn't exactly new stuff. I'm sorry if you find it difficult to be respectful and caring about other people unless you have rules imposed from outside - most people don't have that difficulty, and find common sense and an internally-generated moral code quite sufficient.

I am an Atheist. I don't even know what the 10 commandments are and I have never been fined, jailed, trialed or even questioned by the police.

We get our morals from what we know is right, not some old book about an invisible man who lives in the sky and made the world with his magic.

I don't need the ten commandments to tell me what to do and what not to do.

I know I should not murder. I know I shouldn't commit adultery.

Romans 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

The Spirit of the law is about having love even for your enemies. Love fulfills the law. The letter of the law becomes irrelevant.

I don't use the 10 commandments for the basis of my morality and consider some of them to be immoral, and I live my life in a very civil manner.

There are many societies that do not base their moral or civil laws on the ten commandments and work quite well without them. Many moral system are not based in religion.

I think I would live my life the same, one rule do to others as you would have done to you.

I don't live by the ten commandments, since I'm not Christian. I'm a productive citizen, married, pay my bills, and function in society. One does not have to have the fear of being smote by god in order to live an honorable life. The difference for me is that I live free from the guilt trip of sin.

Many people cannot tell you the ten commandments, but they still live their lives accordingly. " Thou shalt not kill"... most people do not and most people do not worship false gods and most people do honor their mothet and father, etc. Yes, most people choose to live civilly because it does not complicate their lives or add unnecessary drama.

No, I don't think that someone needs to be saved in order NOT to do the wrong thing, but believing that you need to be saved from eternal damnation.....now that changes everything!

Nine,
I am a Christian and I follow a "New Testament" that was formed after the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension into Heaven by GOD'S SON, JESUS CHRIST. The New Testament is an instruction manual to let us know what GOD expects from HIS adopted CHILDREN (Christians). You have an opportunity to become one of us and follow HIS Testament.

To become a Christian, we are told that we must HEAR the WORD in John 6:45, Jesus said, “It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.” We are also told so in Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We are told the we must BELIEVE in Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We are also told so in Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” and in John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. We are told that we must REPENT (or turn from sin) in Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Also in Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST in Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We are also told in 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. We are to be BAPTIZED according to Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” and Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. We are to CONTINUE to be FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH according to Revelation 2:10c Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. We also know that Paul wrote in Romans 14:12 each of us shall give account of himself to God. It is important that we not ignore what is written, change what is written, or add to what is written in the New Testament. It is our Christian Guide. Have a great weekend!
Thanks,
Eds
