It's well known on YA R&S that I have no love for Islam, although I wish only the best for Muslims. Here is an example of private messages sent to me, by someone who appears barely literate, and doesn't know me from Adam. Is this an example of Islamic tolerance? Muslims, I understand if you agree with this nut in principle, but do you think this is the best way to dialogue?

" Subject: lil biatttchh

Message: you wanna talk shet bout islam? do it in my face and not behind your keyboard you fckin ***** *** white boy "

And:

"u trailer trash, i live in northern california so if ur ne where near me let me know id love to beat you to a bloody pulp. talk is cheap white boy"

Does anybody wonder why the western world isn't buying the religion of peace propaganda?

Majeed3245: I wish you had checked with me before you made that ridiculous claim. You're not helping your cause. I did indeed receive these e-mails from a young man in his mid twenties who apparently was offended when I pointed out certain inconsistencies in Islamic scripture, but was unable to engage in the marketplace of ideas. I have plenty of things to criticize Islam with from your own scripture, I certainly don't need to make up childish rants and pretend they came from someone else.

To all: Before you blame me for inciting this nut, you should take the time to look at the answers I post here. Yes, I am harsh on the roots of Islam. I also maintain that most Muslims are the nicest people you would want to meet. I never attack individual Muslims, or suggest that the rank and file Muslims of the world today are bad people. All anyone knows of the roots of Islam comes from Islamic scripture, and I have serious problems with inconsistencies in that scripture, between that scripture and Judeo-Christian scripture, and the Character of Muhammad. I have not gotten any reasonable answers to these reservations I have. Why should asking questions which should have been addresses a millenia ago anger someone so?

I would like to request that anyone making the claim that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world, please provide a secular source for that statement, because I have evidence to the contrary. More than six million Muslims a year in Africa are converting to Christianity.

Green: I am currently engaged in two or three peaceful, respectful personal dialogues with Muslims. I simply don't have time to do more, or I would, but it's a frustrating and time-consuming endeavor.

Muslimah, I don't need to edit my e-mail access. I'm a grown man and not bothered by mindless rants like this. I use it as a guage to tell if I'm hitting close to home.

Thanks to all who have posted.

We see examples of Muslim "peace" every single day on the news. The core belief of islam is violent against all non-Muslims. Yet every time something else happens, the typical response is don't judge islam on one person. The truth remains that it's not one person. If it was, this discussion wouldn't be happening. It's many Muslims, around the world, that make us wonder if islam is peaceful. Then you read the quran and realize why they are acting this way.

I, like you, know there are peaceful Muslims. I pray for them everyday. That doesn't mean the violent ones are not Muslims too; they might be the true Muslims.

God Bless.

previous to the crusades, while the holy lands the place Muslim controlled, Jerusalem replaced into an open city that allowed absolutely everyone to bypass to and peacefully coexist. Jerusalem replaced into homestead to Muslims, Jews, and Christians who have been unfastened to worship there; of direction that replaced into a minimum of in part because of the earnings from the pilgrims that visited the area. It replaced into the Christians from western Europe that had to make a acceptance for themselves and take the Holy Land for Christians that one and all started the long, bloody, and finally failed crusades. There are quite a few million Muslims in the U. S. who stay as peacefully as the different American. Of each and every of the prepared crime agencies and gangs, what share are Muslim? honestly, it is not uncomplicated to hit upon a time while any geographic area of any favourite faith has been non violent. Christianity is 2000 years old and seem its historic previous; the darkish a while, the crusades, the a hundred years warfare, French revolution, American civil warfare, Spanish-American warfare, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, desolate tract typhoon, to call some enormous ones, yet to no longer exclude many, many smaller ones. Muslims are human beings and prefer human beings of the different creed, some persons and governments will use violence for his or her own earnings, or for his or her perceived protection, and justify it with their faith. at the same time as Christians have had their be sure faith (Roman Catholic) broken into many important and minor denominations, this hasn't befell lots with Islam, so it relatively is extra convenient for his or her leaders to apply faith to regulate their subjects.

I am a Christian.

I have stated before and will again now, I earnestly would like to have a personal dialog with Muslims. I've already reached out to one of a private basis here and he responded in kind.... gentle and compassionate.

I'm sorry, Scruffy, I can't get behind what you're saying, but, I respect your opinion.

I wish there were some sort of inter-faith dialog group at a grass-roots level. IS there such an organization?

Regards and respects

There is a book out called Religion of Peace by Robert Spencer, a New York Times bestselling author.

Anyone interested in this subject should read the book.

However there are members in our Congress who think 'war on terror' is a bumper sticker, and that the president sends boys over to Iraq to watch them get their heads blown off for his own amusement.

What a world we live in.

onegaishimasu; Usually the only viewpoint that Atheists express on R&S is how stupid Christians are to believe in a book that was written thousands of years ago. So guess who starts the name calling. The Atheists.

Tariq; Just answer one question for me. Is there anywhere in the Qur'an that it says to kill the infidels? I have read the passages, and they are there.

You think that's bad - just look at the politics section and see all the "Conservatives" vs "Liberals" posts.

I've had similar responses as well from Christians who were upset that I didn't support their [articular version of Gods word. It's not a Muslim thing - its a "there are a lot of maniacs out there" thing.

Hmm, it sounds like you upset some 12 year old kid playing on his mom's old computer.
The "lil biatttchh" epithet is definitely adolescent middle class USA. The use of text talk almost certainly confirms it.
Using the term 'white boy' as an epithet again indicates something other than a muslim, and it is an improbable term for a ***** to use in that style of message.

Well, you just keep composing your hate messages, I doubt if most people really worry about your opinion. There are a lot bigger problems in the world than you getting text messages from a fan in California. Some group in PAK tried to assassinate Bhutto. It might have been fundamentalists or it might have been allies of Mushariff. Nobody knows yet but there are at least 130 dead. Several other bombs have gone off in other countries, whether for religion, politics or both also uncertain. Christian extremists are still killing in North East India and the Buddhist women are all mailing their panties to the Burmese Gov. to protest the recent crackdowns on protestors.
Have fun, try to get out and enjoy the sunshine a bit.

Not about religion. There are people who are not peaceful, there are people who are. There are people who use the name of religion to become non-peaceful, there are people who are peaceful because of their religion.

Believe in God or being an atheist, does not make any difference, as long as we work for the sake of bringing simple smiles to people around us. Smiles to our kids, our families, our friends, our neighbors, strangers asking for direction, strangers need help to carry their bags, anyone.

Something you have to remember is that Muslims are not always the true reflection of the beautiful religion, called Islam. As a Muslim, I will freely admit that, but it is the same for every religion too, so to single out Islam would be prejudical. As humans, we are only less than perfect. Do not let a minority of individuals, paint the picture of Islam for you.

And as for your last comment ... I would just like you to ponder over the fact that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world, and many of the people converting are in fact 'Westerners'.

I'm a Christian. So, of course I don't care about a religion that claims to be peaceful, while stating that anyone from other religions must die. Jesus preached peace and understanding. To me the choice is clear.

I don't know what you said in order to trigger him off, however a Practising Muslim would not deal with anyone in this manner. This is WRONG!!!

What one must understand is there are many people who wear the title of being "Muslim" however they don't practice Islam.

If someone was to disrespect my Religion I would deal with it in a good manner, as this is how we are supposed to deal with people.

Don't judge all on the basis of one Muslim.

Peace
