I know some guys go all out and get a limo and take them to a fancy restauraunt. I am not one of those guys;) I don't have an issue with a nice dinner, although I drive a truck so I would have to rent a car unless they meet me there (cheesy but they live 2 miles away so maybe).

Ultimately I would just like to go over there and ask them. Actually I want to just propose and then she and I go to her parents together to get their blessing. She already said yes and I have not gotten the ring yet even....I actually only want to ask the parents because they would like it not because I need it.

FYI they are christian...so keep that in mind...

Hahaahah good question. With mine, I was joking with her dad one dad and said how much would you pay me o get her out of your house for you, so you would have more alone time with his wife (her mother). A squint came to his eyes and he thought for a moment and smiled and said - what would it take? I said I always wanted a honeymoon in the Bahamas. We both laughed and never said anything again. After about two months I asked for her hand in marriageand presented the ring in front of her and her parents. I told them I was asking her in front of them because I wasnt just going to gain a new wife but another family as well. They thought I was the greatest guy ever...........oh and the Bahamas were great!

Actually, I would be seriously offended if a man asked either of my parents if he could marry me.

Don't do it!!!

It is up to HER if she will marry you, NOT HER PARENTS!

It doesn't matter at all what they think, sure it's wonderful to have their blessing, but ultimately it is a tradition that dates back to the times when women were considered little better than cattle, property. It is inherently misogynistic and sexist and I would really advise you against it.

It is her choice to marry you, and no one elses.

Good luck with it though.
