We know that as Christians, many of us are open, loving and accepting of ALL kinds of people (You will never see ME condemn anyone in the name of Christianity, and that goes for most other Christians that I know personally). Yet, when we ask people why there is such a negative view of us Christians, we get ignorant answers such as "Because they are narrow minded, and without tolerance for any one than them self" (that is an actual quote from a user here)......my question is, am I the ONLY one who realizes what a hypocritical, judgemental statement that is? The person who SAID this is obviously just as narrow minded, right?
It frustrates me to NO END that I am called ignorant or conceited because I believe in something, yet the people who say that about MY religion seem to think that they should be allowed to get away with the same 'judgements" they claim to dislike Christians for

I feel like my point is being proven for me........you STEREOTYPE people as closed-minded to prove that stereotyping and closed mindedness are wrong......you call ALL Christians liars to prove that.....well, YOU are allowed to have an intolerant view of Christians, but Christians are, in your book, not allowed to have that same opinion of others-because that makes THEM intolerants, but not you, right? Because you're special.

The intolerance of the non-christian is acceptable, the intolerance of the CHRISTIAN is unacceptable.....when in reality they are BOTH intolerance, unaccepting, narrow-minded, and WRONG

I'm with you on the double standard. Apparently it is tolerant to condemn all Christians as narrow-minded or brain-washed attendants of the Sky Fairy. By that same standard it is intolerant for Christians to speak with conviction of their beliefs when those tenets are not what others want to hear.

Christians, Atheists, and Pagans are all sniping away on this forum daily. I cringe over answers given by people from a variety of groups that seem hypocritical to their claims of tolerance or love for others. Unfortunately, it only takes a handful of people who prefer to insult others to bolster stereotypes.

I believe that Christians are stereotyped because they allow them selves to be. All people see of Christianity are the Pat Robertson's and the Jerry Falwell's, and the Benny hinn's, and the Hagee's. They also hear mostly from the political hate groups such as Focus on the Family, Christian Coalition, etc. If the Christians who do not agree with these people or groups do not speak up and say so then they will be categorized with them. Christians seem to have a problem speaking out against other Christians and because of this they all get thrown into the same boat.

The Christians who do not agree with condemnation of others needs to create a voice so people, including Christians and non christian, will see there is a distinction between them and the hate mongers.

The sad fact is there are SOME christians who act that way and give the rest of you a bad name. I have been told on numerous occassions I am going to hell for this or will burn in hell for that because some christians really cant see past the end of their own noses to understand a lot of people do not believe the same as them and do not want to believe it either!

Have you read the responses Atheists, Pagans, etc. get? Then you would see how hateful many of the christians are on here. And no one is defining christians anymore than other christians - how many times a day does someone post "True Christians Only" or something to that affect?

"Yet, when we ask people why there is such a negative view of us Christians, we get ignorant answers such as "Because they are narrow minded, and without tolerance for any one than them self" (that is an actual quote from a user here)......"

Yes? In fact, many and perhaps most of the Christians here ARE narrowminded and have no tolerance for those who think differently than they do. In fact, that's the dominant "thing" going on here: Christian narrowmindedness being exposed and debated.

Pretending not to have noticed that is extremely dishonest of you, kid. All of your "LMAO" and telling lies like "I am called ignorant or conceited because I believe in something" simply illustrates your arrogance and dishonesty.

You want the reason for hatred of Christians to be the world's intolerance for your beliefs. But as long as you choose to lie about others in the name of your beliefs - which is of course the entire purpose of your "question" here - you don't have a leg to stand on. It's your bad behavior - mostly the lying - that makes others hate Christians.

What I don't understand - if bigoted, narrow-minded intolerant Christians bother them so much - what in the hell are they doing here?!?

Somehow I imagine God is working in their hearts - even if they don't believe in Him.

Doesn't HE always?

What's even more amazing is those who denigrate Christians and Christianity seem to to think they alone know exactly what a Christian is or should be.

I don't mind Christians as long as they don't try to get their beliefs in our schools courts or governments.....they can believe in a cult god that needs his sons blood to wash sins if they want....just as long as they keep it to themselves.

Yeah, they like to generalize. Kinda like how ALL Catholic priests are altar-boy molesters. That's simply not true. Don't sweat it dude. A lot of people come on here to openly discuss religion, while others have nothing better to do than type away bashing a religion. Personally, I feel sorry that their day is so empty.

I don't laugh at other people's opinions. But I will pray for them.
