I am looking for a Bridal Registry, I know there are a few on here and many people are starting to do them they are usually free but I have not been able to find one.

I saw some that were over 500.00 and I really did not want to have to spend extra money but have family from NY to CA and they really need the Registry plus it takes a big headache off me the Bride when friends and family can just go there and see what I am up to.

I have seen all the Store Registries and this is not what I am looking for, I want a site that I can build personally and put all my info on sort of like a myspace only that people can also leave me money and purchase gifts for me from my wish list.

I have seen them but they cost so much money, they are very beautiful and it would be a lovely keepsake for me and my family to have and stay in touch since I am a year away from my wedding.

If anyone knows of a good one please let me know, thanks.

My father is funding this so I do not know what I will spend per plate, I will marry in CA but I live in NYC and work in a large Hospital here. I know I want something very personal yet classic as many family members will expect from us so I can not do the store thing at all.

Most couples will register at 2-3 stores and include a wide variety of price ranges. That alows people of all income levels to purchase something off of your wish list. Or, many people chip in towards the purchase of a larger gift.

However, you are not interested in those generic web site bridal registires. It seems like you want to build your own. You can easily create your own wedding web site, but you can omit any registry info altogether. You can simply post wedding updates and blogs, reception and hotel information. Without any mention of a registry, many of your guests may chose to give a monetary gift. But, of course as you know it is considered rude to explicitly ask for a monetary gift without sounding greedy and tacky. And please DO NOT add a Paypal account for monetary gifts on a wedding site. I saw that one time and my jaw dropped!

You can send monthly updates of your wedding web site to friends and families. Add a guestbook for comments. In teh event the question 'Where are you registered?' come up, you can simply reply "We have decided not to register anywhere, but have included a wish list." And offer a link to your wish list.

Best of luck to you!

Building your own bridal registry online sounds like a good idea, but it also could be a waster of time, money and effort. After all how many of your invited guests will actually use this? More people are likely to use the store registries than an online one. Some guests may think that a registry is rude and may not use it at all.

If you would like to stay in touch with your family then start your own Yahoo group specifically for your family. On Yahoo groups you can share link, picures create polls and post conversations all for free.

I would suggest to stick with traditional store registries and save your time and money for other wedding plans.

Target.com and bed bath and beyond...that's where we registered. If you have family in the east, consider registering at a department store like macy's or jcpenney. Put some expensive stuff on there...but put some cheap stuff on there too. Normally, people will go in together to get you something expensive. As a rule, guests should spend twice as much as their food cost at the wedding. So, if you're spending 50$ a plate...they should technically be spending 100$ on a present. It doesn't always happen that way, though.

oh yeah...try knot.com, you can build your own personal "wedding page" get advice, set up a guest list, etc etc etc.

Honestly? Register at a store...make it easy on your guests. Not everyone is going to have access to the internet (think of your older guests, like grandma and grandpa).

What a previous poster said is a good idea - create a wedding website (we used weddingtracker.com), which then usually have pages where you can list and link to your registry on the store's website. It can also then be spread word-of-mouth to people that don't us the internet where you are registered.

Bed Bath & Beyond is the best store, in my opinion. They're extremely flexible on returns and have such a large inventory of items.

You could set up a website and list all the store registries that you like. I don't know how to register without going to a store. We had a site on theknot.com and we listed our registries on there. When we sent out our save the dates we included our wedding website. It wasn't just about the gift registry. It had details for the guests about when and where the wedding took place, it had our engagement story, and apicture of us. I would set up the website and put your gift registries on it. It would make it easy for you and your gifts. Good luck and happy planning!
