i'm not a bible scholar, but i've read recently that the jews believed the end days will be peaceful, with the human messiah bringing peace to the world. but christians believe in the tribulation period of great suffering, which seems to be what prophet Daniel's writing is all about. Can anyone explain the difference to me. thank you

We are in the end days now. If you will note there is already much suffering taking place. We have not entered into the time of tribulation yet, however it is coming soon. There are different doctrines which teach that Jesus will come at different times; before, during, or after the period of tribulation. The differences of opinion on this matter are spawned by the way the prophetic books are interpreted. The book of Revelation is one of the keys to understanding the prophetic books of the Old Testament. Also a key to understanding God's view of His chosen people is found in chapters 9-11 in the book of Romans. Although there has been much rejection and hatred between Jews and Christians through the years, God's sovereign plan will reunite them in the end when Jesus returns to this earth to rule and reign. Christians are being hated more and more every day as the Zionist movement supporting Israel grows stronger.
Christians are beginning to awaken to what the Jews experienced in persecution by the church.

OK, let me give you the Jewish perspective. First of all, we really don't concern ourselves with the "end days". Judaism is predominantly a here-and-now religion, and our belief is that following the commandments, practicing "repair of the world" is what will bring the messiah.

And yes, you're correct--the coming of our messiah will be peaceful, and will bring peace. The following list of prophecies (which Jesus did *not* fulfill) gives you a flavor for what the messiah will do:

* The Sanhedrin will be re-established (Isaiah 1:26)
* Once he is King, leaders of other nations will look to him for guidance. (Isaiah 2:4)
* The whole world will worship the One God of Israel (Isaiah 2:17)
* He will be descended from King David (Isaiah 11:1) via King Solomon (1 Chron. 22:8-10)
* The Moshiach will be a man of this world, an observant Jew with "fear of God" (Isaiah 11:2)
* Evil and tyranny will not be able to stand before his leadership (Isaiah 11:4)
* Knowledge of God will fill the world (Isaiah 11:9)
* He will include and attract people from all cultures and nations (Isaiah 11:10)
* All Israelites will be returned to their homeland (Isaiah 11:12)
* Death will be swallowed up forever (Isaiah 25:8)
* There will be no more hunger or illness, and death will cease (Isaiah 25:8)
* All of the dead will rise again (Isaiah 26:19)
* The Jewish people will experience eternal joy and gladness (Isaiah 51:11)
* He will be a messenger of peace (Isaiah 52:7)
* Nations will end up recognizing the wrongs they did to Israel (Isaiah 52:13-53:5)
* The peoples of the world will turn to the Jews for spiritual guidance (Zechariah 8:23)
* The ruined cities of Israel will be restored (Ezekiel 16:55)
* Weapons of war will be destroyed (Ezekiel 39:9)
* The Temple will be rebuilt (Ezekiel 40) resuming many of the suspended mitzvot
* He will then perfect the entire world to serve God together (Zephaniah 3:9)
* Jews will know the Torah without Study (Jeremiah 31:33)
* He will give you all the desires of your heart (Psalms 37:4)
* He will take the barren land and make it abundant and fruitful (Isaiah 51:3, Amos 9:13-15, Ezekiel 36:29-30, Isaiah 11:6-9)

You've already pretty much explained it to your ownself. Just re-read your own question and there it is.

Have you not noticed that things in the world are getting worse and worse everyday? Do you not find yourself wondering "Wow, why is this outrageousness going on and there seems to be no end"? Well, the reason why is because as the Bible tells us "in the last days there will be critical times hard to deal with". Are we not in those critical times? Plus God's word the Bible, tells us about the times of tribulation. We have only scratched the surface there. There are so many in this world that love living the lie, or love aligning themselves with what is filthy and immoral, in other words, aligning themselves with Satan's standards instead of Godly and truthful Bible standards.

Need I go on? Everything in the Bible has come to pass in terms of prophecies, etc., dispelling any lies and rumors, in other words, any blasphemy being committed by Jews, or any other non-believers.

But in short, you answered your own question. Just re-read what you have already written.

The " end days" are for ALL people.

But in no way will they be peaceful.

(Revelation 19:17) I saw also an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice and said to all the birds that fly in midheaven: “Come here, be gathered together to the great evening meal of God,

(Revelation 19:21) But the rest were killed off with the long sword of the one seated on the horse, which [sword] proceeded out of his mouth. And all the birds were filled from the fleshy parts of them.

The end days will be hell for everyone who is still on earth. All will be caught up in it. I mean no disrespect, but the Jewish nation has been a day late and a dollor short for about 2000 years now, so I would'nt get to relaxed if was you or them.

Peace is the end result for both groups

however, both predict there will be a time of Jacob's trouble (jewish) or truibulation ( christian) which requires the intervention of God to save people from their enemies.

after that intervention, peace comes.

The Jewish vision of their Messiah is one who will defeat and subjugate all the nations on Earth and give Jews domination and lordship over them,as a prelude to this the Talmud refers to non-Jews as the `Goy` or `Goyim` who are to be used as Jewish slaves.
The Christian view of the end times is totally different in that no nation will be enslaved and the present worls system of diabolical rule will be defeated and all peoples will be one family under God and His victorious Christ.

Not really. The end days of Islam and Christianity are more similar.
