If you stop the use of your antiboitics early there may be a chance that your problem will come back. Also it may be come immune to the antiboitics if you don't give it a chance to work fully. So if you had to take them again it may not be as effective as the first time.

It's to make sure all the bacteria are gone. The very susceptible bacteria are gone within 1 or 2 days of taking the first pill. The more resistant ones take longer to kill. If you stop after 2 days, the only bacteria left are the resistant ones, and that can cause a lot of problems. You could get reinfected with the more resistant strain and then you have to escalate the antibiotic choice.

because no infection goes away in 2 days. the symptoms may be better in a few days but infections are resilient and tend to fight to stay where they are. if you stop too soon, you've just created a bug that is resistant to your anitbiotic and will have to take something stronger next time, for a longer period, to get rid of it. it's like a surgical incision...... the skin on top may look healed but the tissues underneath are still growing together and get strong again. just because you can't see the infection doesn't mean it is gone. stopping too soon is why we have so many "super bugs" now. i tell all my patients to take all their antibiotic and you'd be surprised how many come back with a worse infection saying they wish they'd listened to me. i had a patient last month who had his leg amputated because he took about half his prescription for a deep cut and it came back so strong and fast we couldn't do anything to sve his leg. and he might loose more of it if we can't get it under control. so listen to the people who know the most about it and take ALL of them.

when doctor gives u course of antibiotic, u should finish it. even if after two days u may feel symptoms are over but still bacterias of infection can be there which can again spread it over. after completion of course, it is fully recovered and will not come back. even if after the course is over, if symptoms persists u must consult dr. to continue for 1/2 days more.
