The 7 American UK bases are a great source of wealth for the towns they are located in.

100,000's of jobs are created because of the US bases in the UK. Tell them to leave. You will have a lot of out of work people.

-Not to mention you will lose the most powerful country in the world as your ally.

But close em down if you think that is best.

They are 99 year leases brought about from the famous lend lease agreement between FDR and Churchill. The US lended England military equipment including ships and England lease bases to the US. That would be the 'if my neighbors house is on fire shouldn't I lend him a hose'. That was started in 1940, so the original leases will start expiring in 2039

The bases were secured during World War II so I'm not sure if there's as much use for them now as they were back then. But I'm sure if enough people in the British Parliament protested enough the U.S. would leave.

All US Military bases in Europe are guest of the country in which they reside in. In the past base closures were the result of congressional action not as a request of the host country.

Technically the USA has no bases in the UK. All of the bases we are stationed on are owned and operated by the British Commonwealth. To put it gently; We just park our stuff there.

RayN, try not to get violent towards people, we all know about Americans and friendly fire, you would probably end up killing your neighbour by mistake.

I'm sure your government could ask or tell the U.S. to leave at any time. The U.S. is a guest not an occupier.

Sure, why not.

Are you tired of a US presence in your country? What is it hurting that you would like to see the relationship ended?

g-day!
