Hi Beowulf,

The Blu-Ray / HD-DVD war is difficult for consumers to make a choice. Another situation like the DVD +R / -R format war.

The safest thing to do is go with the LG BH100. If will play and record either type so if one format loses the "war" you won't be out in the cold. If they both continue you can play either without worry.

Go here to read about it and get consumer reviews - http://www.amazon.com/LG-BH100-High-Definition-Blu-ray-Player/dp/B000NNK9LY

I would have to say blu-ray as it has more potential.
HD-DVDs can only hold 15GB at maximum with dual-layering but Blu-Ray can hold 50GBs. Thats a lot more storage which means you will get a lot more bonus content or a very high quality movie. Also Blu-Ray will work on standard definition TVs whereas HD-DVDs require a HD TV. I would go with Blu-Ray even though it maybe that much more expensive.
Hope I could help.

Blu-Ray is the newest form of Disk Technology out, and yes it is more HD them HD-DvD and has Larger space then the HD DvD does.

DVD
not Blu-Ray.
Who really needs 50G of storage for a single movie?... I only need 4.7Gs how bout u?

Plus, give the technology time to expand and price to come down and let other companies into the field besides Sony.
..just a thought
