I am almost 15 wks pregnant and last night I ate a medium cooked steak so was quite pink in the middle. I know guidelines advise you not to but it was delicious and I can't eat it well done! I have researched this and alot of info says its fine as long as its not 'ground' meat.
Now this morning I am worrying a bit as I have had diarrhoea and vomited (although nothing came up). will I have harmed my baby or is it just me who is ill?

I have stopped drinking (which wasn't often anyway!) never smoked or done drugs.

You're worrying for nothing in regard to the steak. Pink is what medium is supposed to be - not red/raw (although I love my steaks really rare).

If your symptoms persist and can't be attributed to morning sickness, then call your doctor. But the steak's degree of doneness has nothing to do with it.

have you been eating lots of meat lately? coz if you cut something out of your diet for a while, or even reduce the amount you eat of that certain thing, then you can get diarrhoea when you start eating it again. and because you're pregnant, your senses are more sensitive. it's true that doctors advise not to eat cold/ little cooked meat while pregnant, this is to prevent against Salmonella and things like that.

you're body knows when something don't suit it, so it reacts against it by giving you diarrhoea and or vomiting. if you're really worried about it, you should go and see your doctor. but i think that the diarrhoea and vomiting would have probably gotten rid of any possible threats.

As long as you don't smoke, drink, and do drugs while you're pregnant then I have to hand it to you for trying. An occasionally indulgence in the red meat is not harmful to your baby. If you ever smoke or do drugs or drink heavily then you are selfishly hurting your baby.

Kiddo, a medium steak is cooked to an internal temperature of 140 to 150 degrees F. (60 to 65 degrees C.) That's more than enough to kill any harmfull bacteria it would have contained.

But, if you continue to be ill, please see your obstetrician as you may have the flu.

Eat organic (certified) and you won't have to worry.
If you have not been eating beef, it could just be a lot on your system, or perhaps pregnancy itself is affecting your digestion.
Ask your Dr., but as far as I know, the baby is not sick from this.
Take good care now.
