Well, I was going to say this before even Tonly L and some others said it would be the chicken.
But, Tony L. said "chicken and rooster" as if roosters aren't chickens. Tony, the egg is fertilized by a rooster, yes, but that IS a chicken. A rooster is a MALE CHICKEN, and a hen is a FEMALE chicken.
Well, Rachael Ray 2001, It would be like the way Adam and Eve came. Did they come as babies, or did they come already as adults and then get together to have their own babies? Obviously they came as adults already, based on what we read. Why would it be any different with a chicken and an egg?
An adult chicken came before eggs.

It was the egg.
Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.
Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.
The living organism inside the eggshell would have had the same DNA as the chicken it would develop into, he said.
Therefore, the first living thing which we could say unequivocally was a member of the species would be this first egg," he added. "So, I would conclude that the egg came first.
Mr Papineau, an expert in the philosophy of science, agreed that the first chicken came from an egg and that proves there were chicken eggs before chickens.

I would go with the chicken, b/c God created all living creatures, and the egg came from the chicken obviously, but the egg was/is not a living creature until it is fertilized by the rooster. So you would have to have a chicken and a rooster to come up with a fertilized egg, so the chicken would have had to have come first to lay the first egg. :)

First there was niether. A long time later there was something similair to the chicken. Then it laid an egg that a chicken hatched from. Therefore, the egg came first. It is like asking what came first humans or pregnant humans.

Creationists say chicken, because God made the chicken.
People who believe in evolution (myself included) say egg, since it was an animal very close to a chicken, but not technically a chicken, that created an egg that was mutated just enough to hatch a chicken.

Received this today in an email..... finally the answer....
A chicken and an egg are lying in bed. The chicken is leaning against the headboard smoking a cigarette, with a satisfied smile on its face. The egg, looking a bit pi**ed off, grabs the sheet, rolls over, and says, "Well, I guess we finally answered THAT question..
Hope this helps... :-}

Bacon!
Without bacon, nobody would have thought of eggs! The chicken was an afterthought, a carrier of eggs until breakfast time, then a source of meat for lunch sandwiches.
