Dalmations can be known to turn on their owners.
If they are raised with children and animals they can be good with childrens but they are a bit rambunctious so they're not really good with fragile or small children. All the things you need to know are listed on this site:

Due to the popularity of the "101 Dalmatians" movies, these dogs suddenly became very popular. Unfortunately, many also ended up in shelters because they aren't really like the cartoon dogs or the real dogs in the live action movies. Dalmations tend to be energetic and they don't have the warmest personalities either. They are rather aloof.

Dalmations are a VERY high energy breed. They, more than any other dog, need HOURS of hard running every single day or they get mean.
After that, it just depends on the dog. Find a nice one, give it the training and exersize it needs and you have a fantastic pet.

They are very high energy. Also, they are not labradors with spots. They need to be socialized like crazy. They tend to be very protective dogs. Look at what they were originally bred to do. They were guard dogs. If you get the dog from a reputable breeder you should be ok. They will help you through everything. Also, have you seen how many are in rescue?!? www.petfinder.com
Maybe you should foster one to see if it really is the breed for you. Rescue people are really good to talk to about specific breeds. They don't want to sell you a dog, they want to place a dog in a permanent home. They will be very honest with you. Good luck!

Dalmations are extremely loyal and friendly dogs, I think the only thing that people complain about is that they can be very hyper.
I think they're adorable.

nothing is wrong with dalmatians. but you need to think about your situation before you get a dog. certain breeds work better with certain life-styles
try this site to help you decide if the breed is right for you

also there are lots of good dogs that need homes at the pound. consider getting a mutt. they're smarter than purebreds and resist diseases better because they aren't inbred. I have a terrier mix I got from the pound who is the smartest little boy I've ever met. my other dog, a pure bred toy fox, whom I love dearly and is awfully cute, is kinda dumb unfortunately.

a good dog, but you better know something about raising a dog. definitely not for irresponsible owners. they tend to be a little mean if you let them. temperament studies have shown this, but alike any breed, if you raise them right you should have any problems.
Do not get one if you dont know what you are doing.. if not for your sanity, do if for the dog.
good luck

I'm not sure. You could search yahoo & find alot of sites for info. Don't forget to visit your local animal shelter, too!
