This past Monday, I got my second shot in the series of 3, and I've developed a really hard painful bump around the site of injection. The bump is internal, just a little raised, and the area is a little redder than usual... Should I be worried? I didn't have any reaction to the first shot. My arm feels a little weak, but I've always had that after getting shots.

response to HPV vaccine differs from person to person. It could just be because it is an intramuscular injection (injected into the muscle). I know i had a lump for 2 weeks following first injection, depends on the person

If it's still there tomorrow morning, call a triage nurse at a hospital or your doctor's office (some have saturday hours, even if they don't say they're open). Until then, it's no biggie.

Make sure you tell your doctor about this before you get the 3rd shot, though. It's something they'll want to know.

Could just be a local infection. Kind of like a really bad zit. Did they swab your arm with alcohol before the shot??

Get it looked at by the doc now.

You will be ok.

Call the doctor that administered the shot and ask.

BTW, a vaccination would not be necessary at all if women would have respect for their own bodies and hold off on having sex with multiple partners. Cervical cancer is directly related to multiple sexual partners.

i don't think so....the doctor told me that there can be itchiness, painful swelling, and reddness at the injection site, so i think you are ok but if you still feel worried call and ask. :)
