I think that you're a responsible person!
Speaking as someone who was a single father,( back when that was almost unheard of), I know the joys, and the fears, of young parenthood. Believe me, the Joys far exceed the bad parts!
When I separated from my wife, we had two kids, barely 17 months apart. On my visits to the house, I noticed that the older child, which was a girl, was always clean, well-fed, and happy.
Meanwhile, the boy would be upstairs, wet and crying in a soggy crib. His little butt, and package would be sore with diaper rash, and he was just miserable. I made the decision that I would take him out of that situation, and did. When we did a do-it-yourself divorce, I took my son, my cars and motorcycles, and she got the daughter, the furniture, and the equity in the townhouse we were buying.
I lost the girlfriend is was living with, because she was young and spoiled, and couldn't handle the frustration and stress of sudden parenthood.
Anyway, back to your situation, just keep on doing what you're doing. When you have your degree, and a good job, you will be through the rough part, and will be filled with pride, and a sense of accomplishment that is unlike any to be found in the workplace, or anywhere but parenthood.
The only time I think young motherhood is trashy, is when girls let themselves go, never lose the "baby fat", and spend their time watching Jerry Springer, drawing welfare, and growing a bigger A** !
Good Luck ! :-}

Teens that get pregnant unplanned are those who did an irresponsible act. Infact, in my opinion, teens should not experiment with sex. Most of them who keep their term are forced to due to various laws of the land.
If given a choice, In my opinion, almost all of them will want to terminate their pregnancy, unless and until, they had the desire to have the baby - For example where a 18 or 19 year old woman becomes pregnant by choice.
But, here, I guess, we are talking about those teens who accidently become pregnant while not really planning to have a baby or be in a mental state to take care of one.
I would say - a teen who becomes pregnant, but, without any pressure (due to law of the land), decides to carry the pregnancy - from a spiritual sense - is responsible.
I will also argue that this one event will change the course of their life forever....many a times, from a practical point of view, such a move to keep the pregnancy would not be the smartest thing to do.
In anycase, I would not call that "trashy" but rather unfortunate.
I am glad to know that you did well inspite of this unplanned event in your life. As for the defacto "labelling" of teen-mother - Socially, It is certainly frowned upon to experiment with sex at a young age....hence.

Well, any young teen that gets pregnant is definitely irresponsible. I like the word "trashy" as well but sometimes kids just make mistakes.
Keeping the baby is something that should be well thought out and discussed with parents or guardians. If a teen is not ready to be a mother, she would be doing her child a favor to give it up for adoption. If however, she recognizes her mistake and if she is capable of taking care of her child, then applause to her.
But typically I don't see that, so in most cases...
Trashy!

It really depends on the teen.
Are they taking care of the baby or dumping it on the gradparents to take care of while they go out and party.
Honestly to me age doesn't matter, though when a girl is 14 and pregnant I do wonder about her parents. As long as the girl is mature and responsible and rasing her child, not doing drugs partying carting guys in and out all night she is a resposnible parent no matter her age.
I've seen alot of bad older parents.

I think it depends on the person. I know several people that had babies in high school and all but one finished. My sister-in-law got pregnant when she was 14 and had her son when she was 15. She got married last month and her and her husband are still in high school. They will graduate this may.

I don't find it very classy, but not necessarily trashy if they are responsible in their decision to keep it. Time to grow up early, just hope they can handle it, not be immature or selfish, & make that baby top priority in their new lifestyle.

It depends on the person. Some teens can overcome the bumpy start in life and go on to be successful parents and financially stable adults. Some never do and tread from one dead end job to the next, dragging their child along with them and never able to provide for them, and not getting enough education to care for them.

Some are responsible enough to raise their baby.
Some are definitely not.
But look at some mothers in their 20's who are mothers also *cough cough britney spears cough cough* Age has nothing to do with it. Some people are more mature, some are not.
