I have a set of horns that are polished and mounted that I assumed were bull horns. I've done searches for them but can't find any that look like the ones I have. I have a picture on my computer, but the only way I can explain it is that they seem darker and curve more than the bull horns I saw. Anyone know much about them?

Are you sure ther'ye just not another bread of bull, or maybe thats just how the horns are, I don't know much about bulls, though, so sorry.

If they are very dark to almost black and relatively small, they are most likely Bison horns.

update: After looking at the picture of the horns, I can see that they are not bison horns. They certainly appear to be cow (or bull) horns. What breed is anyone's guess. I don't know if anyone can say what breed they came from.

Old Dog is correct. They are Longhorn steer horns. From the size and curvature they may not be full-blooded Longhorn but crossed to some other domestic cattle. Full-blooded Longhorns have a wider span before they curve upward.

Best.

theres 3 or 4 different kinds of 'longhorns' , and these are sure longhorns ... they are a mexican cattel, texes has it's share of them,
we raise them here in Colo, too.
the yearlings are used in rodeos for steer ropeing and bulldogging events.
It is imposible to tell from your picture if there from a bull, or a cow, tho..
each kind of longhorn has it's own horn formation.. i wish i could tell ya each kinds spacific name... but im haveing a brainfart rite now.. sorry.
