I was watching in a documentary that in 1995 the base was abandoned!??Does that mean that we are allowed to go about and explore within?
Is it still "Contaminated"???
Is it still Illegal to transpass there?
Is there still securities and soldiers watching the premises?

desertviking_00's... YOUR MOM IS FAKE. I shouldnt have said the documentary said "abandoned"... More like moved... or something. They made it clear that it wasnt the same! that it was alot diffrent and that the "new area 51" was moved to utah... But not called area 51... and thats not a fact just an investigation with a possible outcome.

Area 51 (Detachment 3)[1] (also called Dreamland, McCartan's County, Paradise Ranch[2], Home Base, Watertown Strip, Groom Lake[3], The Box, Neverland, and other names) is a remote tract of land in the southwestern portion of Lincoln County in southern Nevada, located at the southern edge of a large dry salt flat called Groom Lake. It lies within the Nevada Test and Training Range and is owned by the United States Department of Defense and the United States Air Force. Area 51 contains an airfield whose primary purpose is believed to be the operation and analysis of enemy aircraft and weapons systems, and secret development and testing of new military aircraft. The airport code for Area 51 is XTA. Runway lengths are as follows: Runway 12-30 5420' x 120' concrete Runway 14-32 12000' x 200' concrete. [4][5][6] [7] Area 51 is the frequent subject of UFO conspiracy theories.

If you want to find out what is there, work for a government contractor out of Vegas, and a Top Secret clearance. This is all in the documentary: the employees go to LV airport and fly to and from the facility. But no, there are no aliens in the basement or in storage. What is there are a bunch of "kids" playing with high tech experimental toys...and by the time you get to see their "toys" in action (i.e. "war"), they're coming up with something better.
I think the reaction of security is kind of ridiculous..it attracts more attention in my opinion. Usually they are effective enough to keep people away without even saying anything. They'll drive out there and see what's going on.
I do think that facilities like this (there are others in places you would never realize) should be audited because they usually have a crazy budget.

I was at the border of Area 51 in May of this year. They still have the no trespassing signs warning of deadly force. They still have the electronic monitoring there. And they cammo dudes were still up on the hill watching us, making sure we did not cross the border.
Furthermore, I stayed in a hotel in Las Vegas that gave me an excellent view of the airport and the Janet parking pad. Janet is the name of the passenger jet that fly people back and forth to Area 51. The Janets where still there, coming and going all day and night. With my binoculars, I could watch people getting on and off the jets.
I would say Area 51 is still there.

When are people going to realize that Area 51/Groom Lake is the world's worst kept 'secret' base and that if we have little green men running about it's certainly not out there? There may be some design tests being run out there but we won't know about it, so what's the big deal. Now, it's just an every day AF base and probably always was.

I believe that documentary indicated that some elements have moved. However, it certainly has not been abandoned. There seems to be some contamination issues that would prevent public access, even if the base were abandoned.

Groom Lake is still active as a place to develop and test the new generation of high performance aircraft. Trespass on the site is a violation of Title 19 of United States Code, the same as it is for trespass on any other military facility. It appears your "documentary" is fake.

when was Area 51 abandoned??????? Groom lake is still a military testing center isn't it for experimental aircraft etc...??
Are you sure it was abandoned??????
Are you refering to the closure and environmental cleanup.. if so they just relocated operations to other areas, and closed down portions of the base... officially.
I couold be confusing this.. I think they extended a runway too..

you got wrong information. from what i heard they made some new buildings and made the worlds biggest runway for any aircraft which people are wondering what kind of aircraft needs a runway that big. and from what i also saw on TV if you go near the area sensors will get you and soldiers will either shoot you or arrest you for trespassing on USAF property

If you know anything about Area 51, you should know that you shouldn't try to go exploring there.
