Taking the Bible 100% literally would leave an awful lot unexplained, such as the two different stories contained in Genesis describing the Creation, the entire earth being re-stocked with people less than 300 years after the flood of Noah supposedly destroyed them all, or how the approximately 1.5-2 million Israelites who escaped Egypt cried unto Moses to provide them with food in the wilderness, but somehow always had an abundant supply of sheep, goats, cattle, rams, kids, etc. to use as a sacrifice when some major event happened. The people who finally put the Bible together dealt with numerous sources, and, I think, did a splendid (dare I say..."inspired"?) job of forming the multitude of tales into one more or less seamless narrative.

People that follow an organized theology generally believe the entire text that their particular theology holds to be the word of their GOD. For Christians, it is the Holy Bible (both Old and New Testaments)-Muslims have the Koran, Mormons have the Book of Mormon-Buddists have an organized book of teachings. Part of following a specific theology involves "believing" the entire manuscript (regardless of what GOD you follow). As an Agnostic (which is significantly different than an aethist) you pretty well understand this principle. Hope you become enlightened and find peace.

I think it is to the best of the ability of the person. John 12:47,48; I think no one can be judged until the knowledge of the word of God is known, if it is refused, the person has judged his own self. Rev.12:11; By the word of their testmony, they loved not their life unto the death, but trusted Jesus the Lamb of God. These judges the word and the Lamb to be very important,
Heb.8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
I do love the word of God and Christ and mans history has got to be here along with the world Empires history, If there is snything we do not know, or are mistaken about at the 1000 year reign of Jesus, we will have every opportunity to be taught and to know and a better mind to understand with.

Yes, you have to believe the entire Bible, but you have to understand it in terms of the culture and language and in the context of the whole book. This is very difficult to do for the average reader, and this is why self-interpretation leads to so many different beliefs.

If you want to support christianity. A false religion that is a profitable-based corporation. There is no evidence of the Bible's existence, anyway. People say they found documents and sorts. Bull****. The Gov't put it there so you won't think outside of the "religious" walls they have constructed.

Which bible? There are so many of them and EACH one says they are the only one which is right and unchanged.
Yet if you read different ones, well by golly there ARE DIFFERENCES.
Doesn't that make a thinking person wonder what kind of monkey business is going on.

Yes. The Christian bible (If you are Christian). You can't just choose to believe 75% of it. You have to trust God.
