You can't really plan to be baptized at the same time. When you are baptized you are accepting Christ into your heart and asking to be washed by the blood and be forgiven of your sins. Your daughter may not be ready for this and you don't sound ready either. You can't just get baptized because you want to. You have to believe. So..with that said, you don't pick a religion you have to know in your heart what you believe.

You read the Bible and decide which church follows what you have read, the best. For me, it was the full Gospel church also known as Pentecostal...You do know that in order to be baptized, you must have repented first..You must accept Jesus as your Savior. Your daughter needs to do the same thing if she is old enough to understand what salvation means.

If you haven't read the bible very much, I suggest you start with the Gospel of John and learn about Jesus..and then read the Book of Acts,,,it is all about the establishment of the first Christians church and the first converts,,both Jewish and Gentile...Pay attention to chapter ten...you should experience that same thing in your life as the first Gentile did when he got saved...

Compare religions today to the church that Christ gave us. It should have an organization based on prophets, apostles, teachers, deacons, evangelists, etc. (no nuns or popes are mentioned). It should be a tithe-paying church. It should include temples, baptism by immersion (not infants), the Holy Ghost, the power of the Priesthood, a belief in three degrees of glory, caring for the sick and needy (a welfare plan), belief in the Bible, revelation (God is the same yesterday and today), keeping the Sabbath Day holy, members known as "saints" and the Church called after the name of Christ. Its members be known for their good works and clean living. It will be a restored Church (Christ's original church fell into apostacy as prophesied and promised, and had to be restored at a later time). For more info, check out mormon.com.

I agree with what most of the people on here said... I would start by getting a Bible, if you don't already have one, and reading it. Don't read it front to back... first read the first 2 or 3 chapters of genesis, then read either Mathew, Mark, Luke, or John... The first one will tell you about the formation of the universe, and the last 4 will tell you about the life of Christ. You don't have to read all of the last 4, but you can if you want to... they are all the same time period, just from 4 different points of view. They all tell about the birth, life, and death of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then just pray about it and follow where God leads you... (and like one of the other guys said, he won't just literally take you hand and say come with me... you will just be able to tell in your heart that "this is where God wants me")

Do you know any people that you like the way they live and the way they act? In the Bible it says"you will know them by their fruit"...If a person is in church and they do good things outside of the church service..they're probably in a good church. Get to know them and ask them if they go to church and what church they go to. You just need to try out some before you decide. You can't really tell by the outside..you have to go inside and listen to the service and what they believe. If you do that...you'll meet people in the church who will tell you how to go about getting baptized and joining etc.

Hi Amy,
I am SO glad that you have come to this decision in your life. This will make such a difference in raising your daughter and in your own future happiness!
God says that if you love Him you will obey Him (John 14:15)...and those are the ones who will be in heaven. (Rev.22:14) We cannot work our way to heaven. Eternal life is a gift that God gives us if we give our hearts to Him and believe in His Son, Jesus. Since we love Him we will want to follow what He teaches which will bring us the most happiness. God's law is the 10 commandments and is in Exodus 20:3-17. Learn His law really well....and then pray for God to direct you to the right church....He has promised to do this. (Proverbs 3:6) Make sure that the beliefs follow ALL of the commandments. You can usually find a churches beliefs online to save you some time. I will pray for you to find the absolute right one for you and your daughter. God bless you.

You could try attending several different churches and see which one you feel best about. You don't have to be baptized in order to attend. You can do some research on line about different religions and see which ones have the answers to questions you may have.

I am not going to lower myself to the level of some others on here and criticize certain denominations out of ignorance or misinformation. Pray about it and read the Bible and then see which church works best for you. Good luck! Good for you for wanting to take your daughter to church!

You say you believe in the bible, so you don't need to pick a religion. You need to find a denomination that you feel comfortable. You can talk with friends about their church or you can go to different churches and talk with the pastors. Read the bible. God bless.

Being Christian is a personal experience. It means that you have personally accepted salvation of your eternal soul thru Jesus, Son of the one true God. This salvation is in accordance with the covenant of the New Testament.

I encourage you to keep your heart and your mind open to the love and mercy of God, and attend various churches in your area. Ask questions. Learn. Study the Word of God. Seek Jesus for your daily life. Find a group that you feel spiritually comfortable with and attend.

You and your daughter are in my prayers.

Look in your yellow pages and find the one you like, there's plenty of them. But what is most important is knowing WHY you go to church or choose the religion in the first place. All I gotta say is after you meet Jesus Christ and find out just how much He loves you, you will see just how real it all is, and not just a "religion". You will meet the real Being who is crazy about you and who just can't wait to put you in His arms, in a way, when you come to Him.
