My male cat has been sick for two days. The symptoms are sudden fever, his fur is all stands up (like whenever cats in distress). His eyes are yellowish and his saliva keeps dripping and smelly.

I'm going to the vet soon...but what seems to be the problem with him?

Please help..thank you.

ty for the response. the vet said he has jaundice, even though he just got it, the symptoms shown are like he has it for more than two weeks. he has been hospitalized and dripped starting today . will he be okay being dripped with only saline water? how about food..what kind of food is good to feed him (solid/liquid)? .

The smell from the saliva is a strong sign of liver or kidneys in failure. A blood test will let the vet know how all his organs are functioning. They should be able to treat for what's 'off'. Don't wait too long on the trip, the sooner you start treating some of this stuff the better your cat will respond. The spiky fur says 'don't wait'.
