Why are funny religious cartoons not getting published more often ?

Question

Seeing how religion is so big a deal in today`s world, why are religious cartoons not more seen in national newspaper, ... ?

In England, you have http://www.jesusandmo.net ( Jesus and Mohammed living in today`s world and arguing to convert an atheist barmaid )
In France, you have Maester drawing this drugged/violent/sex-obsessed nun living with Jesus the portuguese gardener, reincarnation of Christ ( google keywords: soeur marie-therese des batignolles )
In nordic countries, there was a few muslims cartoons..we have seen...
In muslim countries, there is a few cartoon describing america or israel using colorful images too

Same questions for publishing talks, or discussing religions in big conference -I dont imagine books like The End of Faith, or The God delusion are selling much in Pakistan right now. In France, a philosophy teacher is still hiding after the national newspaper published his criticism of islam ( militant, agressive ) last year.

( the guy`s name, address, picture of him and his family was put on islamic websites calling for his death )

(similar to anti-abortion websites)

Those are niche-market cartoons. The mass market just isn't into that sort of stuff.
