Is it because when they're exposed to truths about the bible and life that they are oblivious to that, they become annoyed at their own ignorance? or is it because they know that they're not always right? or because they don't want to think for themselves?

No offense to anyone, and I don't mean to cause any arguments, but this is something I've noticed on this section.

"2telldatruth" I never said I understood anything about christians, I'm just asking a simple question as to why alot of ppl on here seem so over-sensitive. Maybe you should start to actually read and think before you type in the future.

Religion is simply one of those subjects that people get very heated about. Even the occasional religious person (ie dont go to church, but still get the "spirit" every now and again) when they see something on here that is in conflict with their religious beliefs they will go off like a crazy bible thumper or religious finatic. Religion is in the same category as politics - it is something that can start out as a normal debate but will ALWAYS turn into an argument. Simply because any other debate people are willing to hear the other side of the story, take it in, mull it over and make their own choice. Religion is something that you can NEVER change someones mind about, so talking about some mundane detail or difference between sects always devolves into an argument - since neither person will concede their side. Its like race as well, you make a comment about one asian person and any asian who sees it will take offense. Its human nature.

I was the same way when I first got here...and then I got to know a few people and I changed my mind on alot of things..
I have been here more than 1 1/2 years, and my attitude towards things have changed ALOT...but I have found there are two types of Christians here...and one type will NOT budge on their point of view...
and the other is ME...and you are very right about some here being very touchy...

What people fail to understand and realize is that you can argue with a person about an issue but you cannot argue with the word of God (Bible). It's not about people being right but it's more of what does God have to say about this issue. Everything that we face in life the answers are right there in the bible. Try opening it up sometimes you just may get a revelation. I mean no offence.

I think it is the cognitive dissonance of being a modern person trying to believe in ancient ideas. The Bible, for example, says Jesus (and others) physically rose into heaven, that is, floated up into the air and out of sight, like a bird or a plane does today. Even when one believes that Christ rose from the dead, it is far more diffcult to believe that he floated upward like a helium balloon.... up up and away to a physical place just beyond the clouds called heaven-- not a metaphysical place but a real physical place in these three dimenions. I think in their hearts they know that is kinda iffy and that schism makes them touchy.

i be attentive to a pair like that they throw the Christian card yet then they are not thoroughly straightforward with themsleves while observed as on it or maybe no count if that's basically protecting your self they flow off on a rant & rave deal. i'm a Christian I certainly have made errors I certainly have had to say sorry & had to offer forgiveness. Does that make me any much less of a Christian? i think of no longer:)

No offense taken. I try not to get offended but when you ask a quest. and people start spewing off rude and sarcastic comments it starts to get under your skin a bit. Ignorance, correctness, or my own ability to think for myself has nothing to do with it. Its the fact that people can't seem to leave others alone. If I believe one way, and they believe the other that's fine, but don't intentionally answer a ques. just to be rude or vulgar. If it is a quest. directed toward them by all means answer and a healthy debate or conversation about belief is great but the majority of the time that's not what happens on here. Haysoos hit the nail on the head. Just like people who say we dont have a sense of humor because day after day of getting called a delusional moron is "funny" to us. Its a classic case of empathy or even the golden rule (How would I feel if someone was doing the same to me) gone wrong.

My dad always said to never discuss religion, politics or personal things. First, because what a person believes or does is his own business and, second, such discussions can only lead to senseless arguments. He was a very smart man.

Regarding my personal beliefs, however, I do not have to prove anything to anybody. I just have to believe...............

It really depends on my mood and the tone of the question. I really don't know where everyone gets the idea that those who believe in God can't get irritated like everyone else.

I don't feel I'm rude at any time though.
